It's cleaner, way more maintainable, and fully aligned with how Expo works today. The SDK is built with Expo Modules but that doesn't mean it only works with Expo. It works with both Expo and bare React Native projects. Expo Modules is just the underlying tech we chose to bridge native code, it's not tied to the Expo framework itself.
