When is it beneficial to use affiliate programs?

I see many companies offering commission-based programs (affiliates) to increase their visibility and income.

I have experience from both sides (both as a company that offered affiliates and as a person who had some code).

What did you miss in 2019, that you would like to do in 2020?

Every new year, we make resolutions and try to remain positive, motivated and achieve them. Some of us manage to do that, but some of us miss the targets. I was trying to lose weight in 2019, and I did, which I'm really proud of. I had more career-related targets, but I couldn't achieve all of them. I have more targets this year, and I want to achieve them as well. Share your goals and what steps are you going to take to achieve them? Are you serious about that this time around?

Can you compete with big companies?

Hi everyone, What is the value in spending time/money/energy on a project/idea than can probably be copied by big players? Unless it can be patented, or unless it's too hard to copy, is it worth it?

When do you buy the domain?

When you have a new idea do you buy the domain straight away or wait a while? I tend to get the domain first hence why I have about 10 unused domains right now

I'm David Spinks - I've fostered communities for 10+ years & wrote The Business of Belonging. AMA 📖

Hi everyone! For over 10 years I've worked at the intersection of community and business. I cofounded CMX which hosts a network of over 20K community-oriented professionals that we support with training, events, and research. CMX was acquired by Bevy, a platform that powers all of your virtual and in-person community events, where I am now the VP of Community. I also recently published my new book, "The Business of Belonging" where I share over a decade of knowledge on what a winning community strategy looks like, from metrics to techniques. I'm happy to share my experiences and answer any questions you may have on how to successfully build community, host events, measuring community business value, and building startups.

Any practical tips on building a community?

My name is Bertha, I hail from Johannesburg in South Africa. I initially started my career as an Engineer, I had been doing it for over 15years when I decided to completely switch careers and start programming and coding. I am completely self-taught from online courses, programs, and on-the-job training. With that said, the dev house I founded has developed pretty amazing software over the years (in my mind). One of our latest products is Skhokho - https://skhokho.io/ Our Ship, upcoming page can be found here - https://www.producthunt.com/upco... have been learning a lot from this community, I read a lot of threads - trying to figure out how to get the most out of Product Hunt and prepare for a good enough product launch in the next couple of weeks. One of the things that comes out a lot in the discussions is - Building a Community. You hear it all the time - build your community, mailing list, and following. I would like to ask the guys who have been doing it for a long time or guys who have managed to build successful communities - how? How do you start from scratch Which platforms have worked best How do you keep your community engaged What daily, weekly practical steps do you take to actively build your community What worked, what did not work

What app do you guys use for tracking users' bugs (product defect)?

I am looking for an app/software that helps to track issues/bugs opened by users in an an efficient way. Currently using nolt but I feel like there are better options that I'm not aware of. Appreciate the help! Pierre Edit: The goal is to be able for users to submit an issue but also to be able to check out the current open tickets, so they don't submit the same issue twice.

Have you read an something lately that made you stop and think?

Each day we scroll past hundreds (maybe thousands?) of tweets, articles, etc and it's impossible to consume it all. Have you recently read something that you think others should make time for this week? Share below
