I always try to make sure people are not surprised by being fired, no matter the reason. Performance related? We have discussed plenty of times what are the expectations, why the person is not meeting them and how to actually meet them. Financial related? I am a fan of being very open about the financial status of the company and the consequences of it. In my experience, the conversations then...

When I joined Atlas, I joked that my days of saying "huh, lots of meetings, hard to advance" were over, since I don't overlap with my team for at least half the day! And this actually helps me stay productive! Jokes aside though, my real drivers are always liking the product I'm working on and having clear objectives and responsibilities. There is something exciting about believing in what you...

Atlas takes care of the monetization of your application: from researching your competitors and deciding your pricing and packaging strategy to the code implementation and plan-based authorization. Fun thread!

Very interesting!! I'm curious though, why do you think startups (and software companies, in general) don't put a lot of effort on pricing? My theory is that they assume (spoiler alert: wrong assumption) that they are not at a stage where they should worry about the price and are just trying to create the "correct product", whatever that means. But what's your take?

You have an assistant and you want him to start using a cool new tool that would increase his speed a lot. But, he doesn't know how to use it :( MCP is a set of instructions that your assistant can use to easily start using the new tool!
Explain MCP using as little words as possible.

I'm very curious, what problems are you facing regarding the Stripe integration and how much effort do you think you would require to integrate it? Asking because we are building a billing platform that helps you decide the correct billing strategy and then actually implement it with very low effort. Maybe we could help you?

I'm helping some friends with their startup ideas and trying to find what are the most relevant issues that non-technical people usually have. So far it's proven to be very interesting, things that we take for granted are not that easy at all! It's super useful for the product that we are building.

I'm a bit skeptical on the convenience of using Google Beam, but the real-time speech translation sounds exciting! Although it is still probably worse than just speaking the same language, we are one step closer to removing Gloria's famous phrase from our lifes! "Do you even know how smart I am in Spanish?"

I think interviews will slowly be more similar to the real job positions than they are right now. Instead of asking to scaffold a project or do some minor things in a very tiny project, I think it will be more related to understanding a big project and debugging and fixing small and scoped bugs in it. And I don't think vibe-coding or AI would be a valid / fast solution here. At least, that's...
If anyone can vibe code, how will companies decide who to hire?

I don't see a future where teachers disappear, honestly. The abilities that differentiate a good teacher from an excellent one cannot be replaced by AI - specially LLM AI. I do think though that it will make these great teachers more efficient and spend less time in bureaucracy and class preparation.
