About

We're building a newsletter platform that trains an AI Writer on your past issues, scores incoming sources against it, and gives you a draft to review before sending. Background: My co-founder and I ran AI-assisted newsletters for ourselves and for clients for about a year and a half before opening HeyNews to outside operators. Around 600 issues shipped across 10+ formats during that time. The product is the system we built for our own workflow. Before this, 15+ years in AI, SEO, and growth marketing.

We wrote up the SaaS "customer newsletter" case, plus a 15-minute ratio to price your own gap

Posting something we published this week for anyone here running a SaaS company or a company newsletter.

The premise: most SaaS teams ship 15 to 40 meaningful items a quarter and send their full customer list somewhere between zero and two emails explaining any of them. The changelog is complete, accurate, and visited by nobody.

The diagnostic in the post is the part worth stealing. Count the items you shipped last quarter that a customer would care about. Count the sends that told your whole list about any of them. Divide. That's your Ship-to-Tell ratio, and it's almost always a single digit. Everything under 100% is value you paid to build and then didn't distribute.

Release notes, July 18: paste a link list into Compose, drafts keep your sign-off, safer links

Hey everyone, posting today's release notes.

Most of what shipped is in three places: what generated drafts are allowed to do, the Compose screen, and navigation.

How I built an AFK coding-agent loop to ship HeyNews (issue to merge, without babysitting)

I spent most of my career doing non-technical work, and I now build our product, @HeyNews. I got there by talking to AI coding agents night after night. The catch: the agents are good company right up until 4am, when you're still hitting approve every thirty seconds and what you actually want is sleep.

So I built a loop I can walk away from and wrote up exactly how it works: https://blog.heynews.co/afk-codi...
