Wisteria is an AI tutor that helps students actually learn instead of simply giving them answers. It uses Socratic questioning to guide students through problems, adapts to their understanding, and tracks mastery over time. It also uses a voice module to ask students questions and get them to explain the concept, allowing them to understand the concept at a deeper level. Unlike typical AI chatbots, Wisteria is designed around one idea: AI should make you think, not think for you.

My team and I built Wisteria because we noticed something frustrating about using AI for school: it’s incredibly easy to get an answer without actually learning anything, leading to students feeling less prepared for future careers.
Wisteria takes a different approach. Instead of solving the problem for you, it asks the right questions and guides you toward the answer yourself. It also tracks what you actually understand, so “I got it right once” doesn’t automatically mean you’ve mastered it. We've also added a feature where you can actually teach- you heard me- teach the AI as if you were teaching a friend, helping develop those brain connections to whatever topic you are learning.
