WidePlayer for X makes supported in-feed playback on x.com wider without fullscreen. It moves the original player into a responsive overlay, keeps the feed layout stable, and supports both automatic mode and manual controls with adjustable width.
I built WidePlayer for X because in-feed playback on x.com is often too small to clearly see what is happening, while fullscreen is too disruptive when you are just browsing the timeline.
I wanted a middle ground: keep the context of the feed, but make supported players wider and easier to watch. The core approach was to move the original player into a responsive overlay instead of duplicating the media element, then restore it cleanly back into the post. That keeps playback reliable and the layout stable.
WidePlayer supports both automatic mode and manual controls, plus a width setting so people can tune the experience to their screen. It is also designed to fail safely: if a post layout is unsupported, it leaves the original player unchanged.
I would love feedback on unsupported layouts, edge cases, and what controls would make this more useful.

I’d love feedback from people who watch a lot of videos on X. Does the wider in-feed player feel useful, or would you prefer more manual control?

Just came back to thank you for this gem I've been using it since launch, literal game changer.
