Linux doesn't have a speech to text capability like other operating systems, and I was getting tired of typing out prompts during development. whispertux adds a simple python interface around OpenAIs' whisper model (via whisper.cpp) to enable voice to text in any Linux application Since it uses whisper.cpp under the hood, no expensive GPU hardware is required since whisper.cpp works well on x86 with AVX instructions. GPU acceleration is supported if you have one handy though

This is awesome! Been wanting a decent voice-to-text solution on my Linux box for ages – typing commands all day is killing my wrists. Truely appreciate that it doesn't need a super-powered GPU to work; that's a big plus for my aging laptop. How's the accuracy on longer dictation sessions?
