Thanks @jimiwen for the post! Hey everyone, I am Rex Chen, CEO and co-founder of UXTesting. We are really excited about this release. The integration is extremely simple and enables you to know how users feel about your app. User testing on mobile is complex and time-consuming without any tool. We work with UX design consulting companies to provide mobile app owners an efficient, effective and affordable way. With UXTesting, not only you can see how people really use your app, but also you can know how users feel about your product. Let me know if you have any questions.

Awesome product and reasonable pricing structure. I've found companies offering similar products are geared (by their pricing) towards apps with very large scale, it's great to see someone going after developers who need these products the most! I'm curious how the front facing camera features work. I assume you ask them for permission to let them know they are being recorded? Also, is this geared towards beta test builds, or is it meant for production builds in the App Store?
David Tseng
@arilitan thx for the comment! We have worked on this product for a while and we are always welcome feedback from developers. For the front camera feature, if you invite a user to your testing environment, you have to ask their permission to record their reactions for your research purpose, including their gestures on screen. While the camera feature can be turned off in the setting, we suggest that the user should be informed before using our service. We suggest to use our service for app in beta version or invite a small amount of users to the test. We do not recommend to use it for live apps. Thanks for asking!
Aldrich
@arilitan Don't hesitate to use UXTesting! I definitely trust you will love this cool product!
Ari Litan
@aldrich_huang for sure I plan on trying it out!
Aldrich
@arilitan If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us! Keep in touch!

I start using UXTesting since early 2015. Thanks to UXTesting's incredible solution, it helps our app @insprdesign improve the usability a lot! I suggest if you are developing an app and do care about the user experience, you could give UXTesting a try. It could help the developer to collect and manage testing videos easily.
David Tseng
@syshen thanks Steven's support from the very beginning of UXTesting! We really appreciate and glad to see the awesome successful case that @insprdesign has made. Looking forward to having you in each version of future updates!

I have seen a number of tools for recording mobile app user experience. UXTesting looks awesome, but can you help me understand some of the ways in which it is different from other tools.
Rex Chen
@blakeyeager Thanks for asking. UXTesting is devoted to uncovering valuable user insights in the most efficient way. Not only recordings, UXTesting offering a solution for companies with mobile apps, it’s now easy to manage, discuss & analyze user behavior. Our comprehensive solution records user reactions and comes with screen-specific heatmaps, behavior flow visualization, and even includes the first-ever emotion detection technology on your testing results! We work with design consultant companies and make the process easier than ever. If you want to know how users' feel while they are using your app, try it. I bet you can find the many differences than just recording it. Cheers!

This is cool - making it easier to get real access to what users are thinking in an indepth manner is the dream for a lot of UX designers... I know we'll get a lot of use out of it ... the video recording aspect is something we can toggle on or off I would imagine?
David Tseng
@samir_doshi If you mean the facial video, then yes, this feature can be turned on and off as required. As you may be aware, the testing scenarios vary from app to app, however, what we want to provide to our users is a very flexible toolkit that's suitable for every UX designers.
Aldrich
@samir_doshi It's really simple to use! You could do user testing with no controlled environment, it's natural environment for tester!
Samir Doshi
@injaytseng Thanks really cool -- gonna talk to my dev head about this tomorrow --- we've seriously been wrapping our head around effective ux testing for some time

How did you come up with the idea? Was there an A-HA moment? Where do you see UX testing in 2 years?
David Tseng
@jimiwen We always want to find out what makes mobile app success. What makes app different from so many similar apps? What is the secret sauce? After interview 10 successful mobile app companies, we finally found something in common. They all do user testing. But it’s super complex and time-consuming. To simplify those processes, we start making UXTesting. And that was a year ago. In the following two years, we tried to find out a way to discover valuable user insights in an easier way. Do fewer tests, having more insights. Now you can spend less time and money to validate your ideas and new features. Moreover, support cross-platform UX testing, including wearable device is another big thing that we are working on. Cheers!
wenjimi
@injaytseng I totally get you, UX is full mixture of problem domain intuitions and experimental feedback. I think it is really both art and science. UX requires history of the domain, analogies cross-domains, theories generalising trends, direct response. And I see the most potential from UX Testing is improving the scalability and efficiency of the direct response part.
wenjimi
@injaytseng How far upstream of the UX service will you go? Will you go towards UX testing as commodities route or one-stop shop of UX consultancy?
David Tseng
@jimiwen The final goal of our service is cover from small startup teams(1-10) to big enterprises. When there are software and human, there are a UX testing demands. In the current stage, we want to get involved the market from Design Agency, those companies could provide very high values, and could easily make better UX with our help.
wenjimi
@injaytseng Sounds like a good strategy, keeping the design elements with designers, but inducing as many use-scenario data-points to provide insights to the design.
