Hi Product Hunt, I'm Peter.
I sell for a living. A few years ago I started noticing that every scam that reached my phone was running my own playbook: the open, the qualifying questions, the objection handling, the close. Nobody falls for a scam. They get closed by a professional.
So I built the tool I wanted to hand people instead of advice. Paste the situation, answer two or three questions, and get a verdict that ends with the institution's own published rule. The IRS says a letter is the first way it contacts you. USPS says it never texts a link. Zelle says payments are like cash. The scam breaks against the rule, not against your intuition.
What's inside, all free, no account:
- Scam text checkers for the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, Germany and Austria
- A romance scam screen (11 questions, honest verdicts)
- A refund eligibility check (what you can realistically get back, by payment method)
- A website checker with four safety signals
- An emergency guide for the first hour after being scammed, sorted by how the money left
- The data behind it: what the most-impersonated companies publish they will never do (28 entries), and what 9 dating apps actually verify
Two things we will never do: charge you to get your money back, or sell recovery services. Both are how victims get scammed twice.
I'd genuinely value tough feedback, especially from anyone in fraud, banking or trust and safety. If you find something wrong, tell me and I'll fix it.
