We're a word game that embraces a multilingual, multicultural world. Once a day you’ll have 60 seconds to unscramble the same word in six languages. Test your polyglotism and share the results – boast, learn, and talk with friends about the languages you know or want to know. Free to play, no ads, no need to sign in.

Good morning, Product Hunters, and thanks for having us. This launch comes about eight months after we first started talking about a word game that would reflect the world many of us live in: multilingual, cross-cultural, and challenging. We were frustrated that the puzzles we enjoyed were English-only, and wanted something that would push us into (literally) foreign territory. TongueTied is intended for people who like stretching themselves through language learning, games, or both.
You start the daily puzzle by choosing six languages in which you want to test yourself. Then you’re shown an image representing an object, action, or idea, and given 60 seconds to unscramble the word for this concept in all six languages. You can stop there or share your results.
We’re launching the product here because we hope you’ll play the game and tell us what you think. Right now, we have about 100 people playing every day, and we’re curious whether it could become a meaningful part of many more people’s lives. So please share your results, starting by posting them here in the comments.
Key features of the game are:
➡️ Free, no need to sign in, no ads
⏳ It takes 60 seconds or less
🌎 You’re exposed to six languages every day, with 38 languages to choose from
💬 A unique way to keep in touch with friends and family
🧠 For the multi- and monoligual alike. Unscrambling a word in even one foreign language gets your mind working and merits celebration.
Thanks for your time, and we hope you enjoy playing.
I want to add that TongueTied is in fact two games, both with the goal of encouraging and celebrating multilingualism. Our other game, sister of the daily puzzle, is an asynchronous multilingual version of Scrabble. You and your (human) opponent can play words in up to three languages on the same board. While the daily puzzle tests how well you can, say, order breakfast in multiple languages, our classic game encourages deeper immersion in the languages in question. Our highest scorers (for example, Ali and Nat) live multilingual lives, and that shows in their gameplay. Still, both games invite players to follow the same path: Be brave enough to try a multilingual puzzle and share the experience with likeminded friends, building bridges in your brain and across continents.
@eric_silberstein1 As Eric says, we’ve got a few games up our sleeves, and we would be really grateful for your thoughts about where TongueTied could go from here. More puzzles? Better ways of connecting players? An option to play the multiplayer game against the computer? Partnerships with organizations trying to build communities of like-minded people? Parnerships with organizations trying to create communication ACROSS bubbles of like-minded people?! All ideas welcome.
This game is great fun and allows all us third-culture kids and multinationals flex our language switching abilities! Absolutely top recommendation!
