But I notice that almost nobody is willing to sit across from the person they're criticizing and defend it live. That's why I built: Throwdown! It's a crowdfunding platform for debates. Here's how it works: Phase 1: Voting - Anyone can propose a debate between two people. - The community votes to show demand. - The more votes it gets, the harder it is to ignore. Phase 2: Crowdfunding - If the debaters agree, supporters can pledge money. - If the debate happens, the debaters split the funds. - If it doesn't, everyone is refunded. The idea: Public demand first. Money second. No one gets paid unless they actually show up. The crowdfunds entice people to actually get behind what they say and put up or shut up! Right now I'm testing: - Does voting create enough social pressure to get people to agree? - What vote threshold feels meaningful? - Will people actually pledge once a debate is confirmed?
