I really enjoy the simplicity and to listen in on what I think is relevant (and skipping the stuff I don’t want). However I have ask, how are you different from Anchor.fm? Id be interested to also know if you will be adding new features that will make it more compelling than other services.

@chubucko Thanks for the positive feedback and question. Synth has some similarities to Anchor 1.0. But they've pretty much abandoned the bite-size format at this point and focused on making traditional podcasting easier with Anchor 3.0. We're strictly focused on short bytes of audio to make both short and long format podcasting easier to new creators, including in private applications like with classes and teams (another big difference with Anchor). A big focus for us moving forward is full platform coverage and integrations for sign on and embedding. We plan to make this the easiest way to share audio anywhere.

I’ll tell you about my specific use case: Humor. I’m not a comedian, but I play one in TV (kidding). More seriously... I pose this simple question: Right now, would you rather read a joke on Twitter or listen to an entire podcast of humor? Or, would you enjoy hearing a ‘byte-sized’ audio clip of the comedian using his/her natural voice to tell the joke? I pick the last one. I can think of no better format to tell my ’byte-sized‘ jokes (on the run) than with Synth. I get to use the power of voice to make the joke funny and I get voice interaction from the audience. There’s no real comparison.

Pros:

Synth opens a playful, new approach to podcasting-for-all by breaking it into approachable increments that others can interact with by voice

Cons:

Synth lives in a delicate but exciting middle ground between “Voice Twitter” and ”Podcasting-for-all.”

@sara_candela Synth is based on learnings with a previous platform in education called Recap. Synth improves on it by presenting similar speaking opportunities to students that are more convenient for teachers to listen to. Some common applications we're already starting to see include reflections, explaining work and practicing new language skills. We're also seeing interest in creating class podcasts for parents and administrators to listen to.

@blambroll - really excited to see this app and so many great features I have yet to explore - what a beautiful interface. I have a few questions having tested the app today: So far I tested creating an audio and video. 1. On desktop on Twitter it seems to play natively so that you are not redirected to Synth - but on mobile in the Twitter app on iOS it seems to open in Synth? 2. Will you be making it possible to download the audio and video files if we want to repurpose them? 3. I can see the option to upload audio and video on desk top - correct? Will that be coming for the mobile app so we can upload from the camera roll? 4. Are you planning to make an RSS feed too available for podcast distribution? 5. I really like the idea of private audio - what I did not understand is on mobile there is a title that comes up that I can not change "my first podcast"? How do I change that? 6. If I create more content can I add audio and video to that same 'podcast'? 7. I am thinking of using this as a way to give feedback to students on my courses and clients but I would need them to have access to separate 'podcasts' which I am hoping is possible. Hence being able to change the name from my first podcast would be important to differentiate them wouldn't it? 8. FYI - On the share page for the private content I can see that you can copy the weblink or add participants with a code and probably because I have my screen zoomed in a bit in iOS (I am using an iPhone 6) the bottom of the screen is cut off where you can me the link discoverable - the page is not responsive) 9. What are your plans for monetisation? I know I will be asked that when sharing your app in my workshop next week with PR professionals I am looking forward to seeing how you develop this for Alexa too. Loving what you have created!

It is based on Twitter's API for how to embed audio and works the same as Soundcloud and YouTube. 2. Will you be making it possible to download the audio and video files if we want to repurpose them? *Yes, we are looking into adding downloading of files both for repurposing, and in some cases to be able to push to other platforms (ex. Instagram). 3. I can see the option to upload audio and video on desk top - correct? Will that be coming for the mobile app so we can upload from the camera roll? *Yes, upload is supported by web only right now. We will eventually support this via mobile as well. 4. Are you planning to make an RSS feed too available for podcast distribution? *Yes, we're looking at it. Although this one may be a bit later in our trajectory of building Synth (unless we get lots of requests, of course) 5. How do I change that? *Inside your Podcast, there is a settings button that looks like this: http://take.ms/PgfvZd. In there, you can edit your title. 6. There are a few options we're considering based on how people use the tool. As a result, we won't add them for at least 12 months. My preferred is a "Patreon" model where creators & teachers can be supported by listeners. Also under consideration are ads and creator studio tools. Our goals as we proceed are to never charge educators, ever, and never take a tool that's been launched free and make it paid.

@truonglong88 There are some similarities at a top level. I can't speak to any details about their tool - they came out after we launched. We have a very different focus from what I can see. We're focused on educational applications and providing tools to traditional podcasters to aid in discovery and engagement with their work (audiograms, etc).

Hi folks. Yesterday I caught myself listening to one of Synth threads and was completely lost in time. It was the second time for me and this sounds like Synth can be really useful and it can help you to dive into the deeps. It has its own PROS comparing to traditional podcasting. The format is a bit different - it adds a lot of interacting. I'd say it seems to me not an audio twitter but more like next step for podcasting that allows channel owner to involve his listeners, get more feedback from them.
