We've been using Superblocks to automate all of our back office operations. Having the possibility to build a UI with no-code solution that directly leverages our existing API back office allows us to have full control and extensibility. Can't wait to see all the features they have planned in their roadmap. Keep up the good work! :)
Brad Menezes
@nikolay_pohlupkov it's been great seeing Payhawk adopt Superblocks to replace Postman processes in the Customer support team! We're working the Live Analytics features you requested to monitor the end user usage of the Superblocks apps!
Taha Saifuddin
@nikolay_pohlupkov Thanks! We've massively enjoyed working with Payhawk, and it's been really exciting seeing Superblocks take off in Europe πŸš€
Ran Ma
@nikolay_pohlupkov Amazing to see Superblocks becoming the backbone for critical operations at Payhawk. We have a bunch of exciting features on our roadmap and we can't wait to launch them to the world!
Gaurab Aryal
@nikolay_pohlupkov Thanks, Nikolay! Really happy to see Superblocks roll out across the Payhawk org. I remember talking about the first use case of building a UI for the support team to improve efficiency and accuracy, migrating from Postman. Watching that grow into a full-fledged automation of your back office ops has been really delightful. Thanks again for all your feedback that help us make the product great for everyone!
Cheng Tan
Thanks @nikolay_pohlupkov The steam engine is an icon of the industrial revolution. Now Superblocks will be an icon of the software tooling revolution.
Or Weis
Love it. Internal tooling always feels like too much friction to get good ROI on it, this can bring balance. The permission model seems impressive for a first launch. Any plans to add dynamic roles and/or permissions? How about ABAC? Have you considered OPA, OPAL (opal.ac), Zanzibar, Permit.io, and or other permission services?
Brad Menezes
@or_weis we found that internal tooling platforms need RBAC much earlier than many other SaaS categories because of the sensitive nature of reads/writes that many tools enable on customer data. So we made it a priority from day 1. You can do RBAC on Apps, Workflows, Jobs, Integrations and you can even do code-level RBAC based on the active user's groups down to a customizing business logic or UI component state (disabled button, hidden form fields etc.). Very soon we'll pull in groups from your IDP dynamically so enable centralized management for IT teams, what would your recommendation be for Superblocks?
Or Weis
@brad_menezes Authorization and permissions are going through a standardization, with policy as code (with OPA's Rego, OSO's Polar, and Zanzibar schemas taking the lead). In addition policy models constantly get more complex - RBAC is good, but ABAC and ReBAC often are required as well (especially if you have multi-tenancy, multi region, or object hierarchy) So I'd look into incorporating tools that can save you and your customers reinventing the wheel.
Paul Bardea
@or_weis Thanks for the feedback! Great points - we're actually using an open-sourced policy-as-code RBAC system for exactly that reason! We're constantly looking at all of the standards and how to make Superblocks more powerful and access control certainly isn't an exception. Our focus has been to build solid foundations so that we can extend our product to support customers' needs in the future, including being able to support custom roles and permissions. Would love to chat more about any use-cases you had in mind!
Graham Neray
@or_weis @brad_menezes Love to see you + your team get a shout out for a great RBAC model. The Oso team is looking forward to supporting you further in the years to come!
Daniel Shushkov
We've been using Superblocks to automate all of our back office operations. We are glad and honored that we became the first European client! We all need automation! For phase one we onboarded our Customer support organization and we will continue empowering other roles in the company with applications built with Superblocks. I really appreciate the support from the Superblocks team during the whole process of configuration and official lunch. I've been observing how my ideas and business cases are covered really fast and my feedback is valued and considered by the Superblocks' team! Keep up the great work and looking forward for the next big features! :)
Brad Menezes
@daniel_shushkov it's been great to see Payhawk scale the customer support operations on Superblocks! Really interesting to see how much time can be saved moving from manually calling Postman collections to an application spun up quickly and how new iterations are being made every few days! @gaurab_aryal can share more about the Analytics features we're building too :)
Ran Ma
@daniel_shushkov excited for the partnership! Always happy to learn about your needs as we incorporate your feedback into our product
Gaurab Aryal
@daniel_shushkov Thanks Daniel for being such a great partner and giving us critical feedback that better inform our product decisions! On top of the observability feature that allows you to monitor your Superblocks apps, workflows, and jobs with your observability vendor, we are also looking to build analytics features that are native to Superblocks. We want to enable you to really understand the usage of your tools in terms of daily, weekly, monthly usage, top users, any security concerns (in combination with the existing audit logging feature), compliance and more. This will ensure that you have better visibility as Superblocks tools continue to roll out across the Payhawk org!
Qile Wang
Congrats on the launch folks! It’s great seeing more tools out there that help developers build useful things, rather than the scaffolding for it. One question though. Your on-premesis approach with the agent is quite interesting. Could you explain why you chose the hybrid model vs going fully on-prem? Our customer data has to stay within our network so the on-prem solution would be required to get started.
Taha Saifuddin
@qilewang Thanks so much. About the hybrid model - we analyzed the potential solutions at length and saw that the hybrid model would give us and our customers the best of both worlds - the safety and security of an on-premise product with the ease of upgrade of a SaaS product. The piece of the platform (On-premise Agent) that a user would deploy on premise if they chose the hybrid model is the only component that has access to your data, ensuring that potentially sensitive data never leaves your private network, and internal resources don't have to be exposed to the public internet. We've made this OPA stateless and fenced it off in such a way that it requires minimal upgrades, and even those are zero downtime - which stacks up overwhelmingly well compared to any fully on-premise solution. Additionally, since Superblocks hosts the UI, we can release most features to all our users without the need for them to upgrade the OPA - we have already done this with major features like Version Control, RBAC/Permissions, and Audit Logs just to name a few. I'm happy to chat more if you have any questions!
Bruce Yu
@qilewang Thanks for your interest regarding our Agent Platform, Qile. I'm sure you would be interested in that we have recently made our agent source available! Check it out here: https://github.com/superblockste...
Brad Menezes
@qilewang the other benefit in addition to all @tahas points is that the agent is extensible with code and auditable by your security team. We'd be happy to walk you through it!

Hi Product Hunt πŸ‘‹ Brad and Ran here, we’re the Co-founders at Superblocks and we’re excited to launch to the Product Hunt community, which we’ve been part of since 2014! Superblocks is the AWS for internal tooling – a programmable set of building blocks for developers to create mission-critical internal apps, workflows & scheduled jobs at a fraction of the time and cost. Born out of pain we’ve faced our whole careers, we designed Superblocks to accelerate every step of the software development lifecycle, while giving developers the flexibility to extend with code. β€’ Break down data silos: Integrate with any database or REST / GraphQL API β€’ Create user interfaces: No need to learn React, HTML or CSS. Just drag & drop tables, buttons, forms, charts and more β€’ Build APIs with Workflows: String together multi-step flows from databases to Google Sheets to APIs and call it from your code or 3rd party webhooks β€’ Orchestrate Scheduled Jobs: Build Slack and email reports based on any database or API and Python or JS business logic β€’ Secure: Add Granular Permissions (RBAC), Audit Logs, SSO/SAML & Secrets Management integrations β€’ Deploy: With version control and coming soon full GitOps automation β€’ Monitor: See all your metrics, traces and logs in Datadog, New Relic, Splunk, Elastic and more Choose cloud or on-prem Superblocks can be used as a fully managed cloud service or if you require all customers data to stay within your VPC, you simply run our lightweight On-Premise Agent. It’s open source, stateless and horizontally scalable. Priced for every user, every tool We offer a generous free tier for startups and upgrade for enterprise security and scale: pay for Creator seats, plus usage-based for end users on applications (based on Viewer Day Passes) or Workflows & Jobs (based on Step Runs). This allows even the largest organizations to deploy to 1,000s of users on day 1 affordably. πŸ’Έ 30% off for Product Hunt members πŸ’Έ Use code "PH30", valid through July 31, 2022. We have a big vision and a lot of work ahead, we’d love to hear your feedback! PS. @paul_bardea from our team built this Product Hunt Explorer with Superblocks in an afternoon, check it out!
Sina Zargaran
@paul_bardea @brad_menezes Congrats on the launch guys! The video is so informative, and the product looks great. Hope you guys crush it! p.s. @brad_menezes Nspire alumni ftw πŸ”₯
Denis Volnov
Friendly and fluent interface with a tone of functionalities. Literally, after signing up, you can create your first automation in a few minutes. You can automate whatever you want and highly improve your services. Also what we like is that the feature delivery is quite fast. So, if you need something more just ask for it.
Brad Menezes
@denis_volnov Vivid Money has been a great partner, great to see the type of workflow automation you've been doing!
Shubham
Superblocks is very exciting! Definitely have felt the pain of slow/deprioritized internal apps due to a lack of developer bandwidth in the past. Superblocks will unlock so much value by stitching together siloed internal data and systems. To top it up the UI is super intuitive and beautiful! Congrats on this beautiful product!
Brad Menezes
@shubham777 interestingly we've seen even the most hardcore engineering teams adopt Superblocks even though they have the talent in-house to build, just to save time and reallocate it to customer-facing and revenue generating apps. It's also amazing to see how many data silos a given company has not just the database and internal APIs, but also cloud object storage, data warehouses, 3rd party SaaS apps
Ran Ma
@shubham777 appreciate the support! Brad and I have seen this first hand at previous companies. Internal tools are absolutely critical for running efficient business operations, teams often don't have the bandwidth to focus on tooling until it's too late.
