Stoa combines the ancient philosophy of Stoicism with contemporary CBT and mindfulness. Use it to build resilience, focus on what matters, and cultivate character. Stoa contains guided meditations, a private journal, quotes, and conversations with experts.
Hi Hunters!
Thanks @chrismessina for hunting.
I made Stoa because I wanted to combine my mindfulness practice with the philosophy of Stoicism. I’ve discovered that I’m not alone!
Stoa is a meditation and journal app grounded in the ancient Greek and Roman philosophy and contemporary therapy (CBT, ACT, MCBT).
It includes hours of meditations, thousands of quotes, a private journal, and conversations with experts like Donald Robertson (psychotherapist, How to Live Like A Roman Emperor) and Massimo Pigliucci (philosopher, How To Be A Stoic).
Here are a few of my favorite reviews:
“Great for starting meditation and starting to practice some of the world’s oldest and strongest practices for resilience”
“Brilliantly combines mindfulness meditation with stoic philosophy. Showing how one aids the other to better ourselves”
“Enjoy this app. Combines Stoicism, ACT, and Buddhism. A real winner.”

Really great content and UI. The content provided by Stoa feels really different from that of other meditation apps and is a big selling point for me!

Stoa has been life changing for me. It's that simple and true. I've dabbled with apps for meditation and mindfulness in the past without ever finding something that resonated, or clicked. For me meditation has always been like kale or yoga... I want to like it... but I don't. I stumbled upon Stoicism accidentally when I heard about the book " The Obstacle is the Way," by Ryan Holiday. At some point there after I ran into Stoa. This is when my journey really began in earnest. I was injured and unable to work my day job, the pandemic was in full force destroying my personal small business, and I had just gone through a divorce leaving me as a single father with little to no help from my girl's mother. Stoa was a lifeline I couldn't afford but could really use... So I reached out to the makers of Stoa and without hesitation Caleb offered me a free subscription. No questions asked. Just typing that out I am feeling a wave of gratitude and emotion. I don't know if the makers realize what an incredible impact they have had and continue to have on my life. They have helped make my small corner of the world a much better place for me, my children, and everyone else I have the opportunity to impact. Give Stoa the opportunity to do the same in your life and the lives of those you touch. It will be one of the most important things you do.
