Generate, explain, fix, and synchronize PlantUML diagrams with AI. Connect AI coding agents through MCP and keep software architecture as your single source of truth.

Hi Product Hunt! I'm Faris, the creator of StartWithUML.
I built StartWithUML after noticing the same problem in almost every software project I've worked on: architecture documentation quickly becomes outdated.
Teams usually start with diagrams, but once development begins, those diagrams are rarely updated. AI coding assistants can read the source code, but they don't understand the original architecture, business flow, or design decisions. Eventually, the diagram, documentation, and implementation drift apart.
I wanted to change that.
Instead of treating UML as static documentation, I built StartWithUML as an AI-native architecture workspace where diagrams become living project knowledge.
With StartWithUML you can:
* Generate PlantUML diagrams from plain text
* Explain and review existing diagrams with AI
* Automatically fix PlantUML syntax errors
* Generate technical documentation from diagrams
* Connect AI coding agents through MCP so they can understand your architecture before generating or reviewing code
This is only the beginning. My vision is to evolve StartWithUML into a complete AI Software Delivery Platform, connecting requirements, architecture, documentation, implementation, and AI coding agents into a single source of truth.
I'd love to hear:
* What part of your architecture workflow is the most painful today?
* If your coding agent could understand your architecture, what would you want it to do?
Thank you for checking out StartWithUML, and I'm happy to answer any questions! 🚀
Would love a side-by-side diff view when regenerating diagrams so I can see exactly what the AI changed before accepting. Right now I have to manually compare old and new files which gets tedious on larger architecture updates. A clear visual diff would make reviewing changes much more trustworthy.
@okankzlarkkzop Thanks for the helpful feedback! That a great suggestion. Visually displaying the differences side-by-side (or even a live view of the changes) would definitely make AI-generated updates much easier to review, especially for larger architectural changes. I completely agree that understanding what's changed is just as important as generating the diagram itself. I'll add this to the roadmap,
thanks for helping us improve StartWithUML!
the MCP integration is honestly such a smart move, basically turns your UML diagrams into something every coding agent can actually reference in real time. really nice execution.
@dolazdarda9918 Thanks, Hamit! I really appreciate that. That exactly what I was aiming for: making architecture diagrams more than just static documentation by turning them into live context that AI coding agents can understand and use during development. More exciting enhancements are coming soon!
