Hey Product Hunt! I've been playing guitar for years, and I've always struggled with the massive gap between expensive 1-on-1 lessons and trying to learn on my own through static YouTube videos.
That frustration led me to build SoundGate Guitar - an AI music tutor that listens to your playing and gives immediate, real-time feedback. While building it, I've thought a lot about the future of creative learning. AI is incredible at detecting mistakes, analyzing technique, and providing instant guidance, but music is also deeply personal and emotional.
I m curious to hear your take: Do you think AI tools will eventually replace traditional tutors for creative skills like music and art, or will they strictly serve as practice companions between human lessons? Let me know your thoughts!
Creatium
Love this! I haven't picked up an instrument in years because I 1) forget how to play and 2) don't want to deal with scheduling lessons. This might actually make me play again.
SoundGate Guitar
@kelly_king3 dusting off an old instrument can definitely feel daunting, but the AI is perfect for a quick, pressure-free refresher. And the best part? Your tutor is ready 24/7 - no scheduling required! We'd absolutely love to be the reason you start playing again.
This really looks great and is a way for anyone to really go in and start getting a guide to learn to play a guitar. The AI feedback is cool and can help with where a user is doing well or not and overall, how they can improve. I just wish that it could be on Android. Can't leave the Android ppl out now, LOL.
SoundGate Guitar
@neogio_bit Thank you, Giovanni! That is exactly what we want SoundGate to do: give every learner clear feedback and help them improve with each practice session. We hear you about Android and hope to bring SoundGate to more players in the future.
Shark.Health
Does it support all guitar types?
SoundGate Guitar
@jolene_mna Hey Jolene! Absolutely! As long as it has 6 strings, we're ready to rock! 🎸
SoundGate Guitar
@soysebalopez That’s something we’re still validating, but music is a universal language and there’s no age limit when it comes to learning an instrument! 🎸
the real-time vs after-the-fact distinction is what would actually get me to stick with something like this. picked up guitar for like two weeks a couple years back and quit mostly because every app just gave me a pass/fail score at the end with no idea what i was doing wrong in the moment. might actually give this a real shot
SoundGate Guitar
Hey Raffay, that delayed pass/fail feedback is exactly why so many people quit! We built SoundGate specifically to give you instant, in-the-moment correction so you actually know what to fix while your hands are still on the fretboard. We'd love for you to give the guitar another try with us!
Real-time feedback is what makes this more than another lesson app. Playing something wrong for weeks without knowing is how most people quit guitar. Being told in the moment changes how fast you improve.
SoundGate Guitar
Hey Rohan, unlearning bad habits after weeks of doing it wrong is incredibly frustrating. Providing that instant course-correction to speed up improvement is exactly our core mission. Thanks for the support!
Im thinking about buying a guitar after this app. lol hope i can learn it fast because i don;t have time to go to the music classes
SoundGate Guitar
@kartikmalik haha, do it! 🎸 That is exactly why we built SoundGate. Skipping the commute to music classes and learning on your own schedule is the way to go. Your AI teacher is ready whenever you are!
