This is a damn good idea. I've seen many struggle through this process, losing time and money. Why the whole deal is so arcane is well beyond me, but making process and information more transparent is a big start. Policy makers need to be pressured to do their part too, though. Through this service you could really rally a committed and passionate community, and that community could be leveraged to actively pressure policy folks. Just a thought!
This is super duper interesting. Forgive the questions if they're a bit too close-to-the-chest for you right now but I'm just honestly super curious:
1. What's the total market opportunity look like here? Like, how many people have this problem and at what rate is the government not helping them, etc.?
2. How do you go about acquiring new users? I imagine the govt doesn't exactly want to put SimpleCitizen promo materials in citizenship offices ;) so maybe it's mostly targeting common Google searches?
@thetylerhayes 1. TAM is around 1.2b to 1.6b, using top-down/bottom-up calc. 2. We're taking the same approach that Mint.com takes - give away lots of educational content and become a trusted resource for immigrants looking for answers.
