Hi everyone 👋
I'm Dale, founder of SaaSy Trends, a product that I built to solve my own problems and now want to share with the Product Hunt community.
If you have any feedback or questions about how it works, just drop a comment here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
💢 The Problem
I can't count the number of times I've wanted to find SaaS businesses that are thriving and expected to grow into the future. This is usually for:
🎯 Business idea generation/validation
🎯 Finding similar businesses to see how they approach marketing
🎯 Finding small businesses to acquire or invest in
Up until this point, I've had to resort to looking around on review sites like G2. But those are not designed for the research I was trying to do - and - just because a company has a few dozen reviews, doesn't indicate that they are thriving or not.
🏁 The Solution
SaaSy Trends is built around one observation - When a company is growing, brand searches for that company almost always increases alongside it (i.e. As more people use Product Hunt, Google searches for "Product Hunt" goes up as well).
So I started to extract and ingest the website/name of every SaaS that I could find, then identify the best brand search for each, and put it all together in an easy to browse dashboard of company trends - SaaSy Trends.
🤷 Feedback/Questions
I'll be popping in throughout the day, so if you have any questions or feedback, I'm happy to try and answer.

Hi Dale,
Congrats on launching SaaSy Trends on Product Hunt! It sounds like a valuable tool for identifying promising SaaS companies. Using search trends as a growth indicator is an interesting approach. Here are some questions and how I can help:
- How does SaaSy Trends ensure the accuracy of search trend data and can users filter results based on specific criteria (e.g., industry, growth stage)?
- Are there plans to incorporate additional data points beyond search trends to provide a more comprehensive view of a company's health (e.g., funding rounds, social media engagement)?
As a developer, I'm interested in the data extraction and analysis aspects of SaaSy Trends. If those align with my expertise (e.g., web scraping, data visualization), I might be able to contribute to future development.
Overall, SaaSy Trends seems like a useful platform for discovering up-and-coming SaaS companies. Adding more filtering options and potentially incorporating additional data sources could enhance its value. I'll be interested to see how SaaSy Trends evolves!
@joelondesign Yes it's still active, I'm not seeing any errors in our logs, what error are you seeing?

@dale_cudmore Good to hear! Errors on my end: on https on Chrome, I get the error:
This site can’t provide a secure connection
saasytrends.com sent an invalid response.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR
and on http, they site never loads on my end. Not really using any network filter or anything either that could be causing issues. I get the error:
This site can’t be reached
saasytrends.com took too long to respond.
Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_TIMED_OUT

Congratulations on the launch of SaaSy Trends! I have a question: How do you ensure the accuracy and relevance of brand search data you collect for each SaaS company?
@emin_sahin1 I'm not sure if I understand your question, I'll just copy and paste something I've written recently, but let me know if I misunderstood: For now I've identified the main brand term (for search) for each business and collected the latest monthly search volume for that.
So for many it's simply the name of the business ("semrush"), while it's the most popular derivative for others (e.g. for "Sage" I would use "sage accounting" or "sage online"). It's meant to be a general gauge of overall popularity, rather than anything more meaningful.
As someone learning about marketing and business validation, how would a monthly subscription to SaaSy Trends help me vs. doing some one-off researching? Curious what customer base you're targeting and why they'd continue to pay over time. 🙂
Congrats on the launch from a fellow maker! I see you don't do much on socials, but I'd love to stay in touch and watch each other grow. 🚀
