GPT-6 Astra allowed us to be far more ambitious in the technical goals we set for ourselves, the research done to learn more about the market, and to craft a more thoughtful and intentional user interface. A simple example of this was our runtime for the Android emulators. Prior to Astra, we used stock Android emulators, and without a dedicated GPU, the software rendering resulted in a lot of user-visible jank/lag. For a while, we punted this down the road and were unable to meaningfully improve this with other LLMs.
Astra changed this, and with a few high-level prompts and the right harness for it to validate its own work, it was able to work autonomously for ~30 hours, run different experiments, and reimplement core components that allowed us to run Android emulators more efficiently, enabling us to reduce lag and serve more users with the same hardware.
This is pretty interesting...Would love to throw this at one of my agents and see if it can give me a working demo. does this only work with Codex or does this work with other harnesses?
@david_hatch3 Our team loves Codex so it’s where we’ve done the most testing while building Android apps. However, any harness with terminal access can use the ramus-cli package to run an Android Emulator, load an APK, tap, type, and capture screenshots. This is super cool!! Congrats on the launch! How many people can collaborate together on an app? Also, what's your pricing model like?
@sohum_sanu Thank you! We currently have a limit of 4 users that can view / interact with an app at once, which is based off of our use of WebRTC for the low-latency video streams, but we'd love to hear if you have a use-case for more users!
@phillip_cutter 4 is a great start. Sometimes we can have up to 8 people trying to view/test at the same time. Would love to see that increase in the future.
@sohum_sanu Ramus is currently free! It's still early days, and we're more interested in letting users try the product and learn about their needs before we introduce a paid pricing tier, but we plan to keep a free tier around for simple testing.
