I run a couple of other software products (VNDLY, an inventory/order management SaaS), and QR codes kept showing up everywhere around them - packaging, event materials, menus at partner businesses. What struck me was how disposable they all felt. Someone generates a code once, prints it, and that's the end of the relationship with it. If the link changes, or has a typo, or the promotion it points to ends - tough luck, reprint everything. And nobody ever knows if the thing actually got scanned.
That gap felt backwards to me. A printed QR code should behave more like a live link than a dead image.
I started out just trying to build a genuinely nice free generator - decent design tools, no watermarks, no account wall for the basics, because most of the free ones out there feel like an afterthought bolted onto an ad network. But once that was solid, the more interesting problem was underneath it: what if the code itself could stay editable after it's already out in the world, and what if you could actually see who's scanning it?
That's the direction QRhubly ended up taking - a free design-first generator, plus dynamic codes you can repoint anytime, plus real scan analytics (location, device, time of day) so a QR code isn't just a leap of faith once you've printed it.
Would love to hear how this community thinks about QR codes - good and bad experiences welcome.

Made a code in seconds and loved that I could drop my logo right on it without fiddling with resize handles. Tracking by device and time of day is a nice bonus for something I didn't expect to be free.
