ChatGPT sells ads in 40 countries but publishes no ad library. PromptAds is a free Chrome extension that logs every sponsored ad ChatGPT shows you (advertiser, creative, destination, format), keeps it local, exports to CSV, and lets you contribute, strictly opt-in, to the European ChatGPT Ad Library: a public record of who advertises in ChatGPT, built by real users. Never your conversations, no IPs stored. This tool is built for marketeers and agencies who are serious about ChatGPT Ads.
Hi Product Hunt, Arjan here, founder at PromptMarketing (an AI-search consultancy in Amsterdam).
Last week OpenAI announced ChatGPT Ads for 31 European countries, on top of the nine markets already running. That makes ChatGPT one of the biggest new ad platforms in the world, with one thing missing: transparency. Google has an Ads Transparency Center, Meta has an Ad Library. ChatGPT has nothing. Advertisers see their own dashboards; nobody else sees anything.
PromptAds is our answer. It is a free Chrome extension that logs every sponsored ad your own ChatGPT sessions show you: advertiser, creative, destination link, campaign tags, format. The log is local by default, searchable, and exports to CSV. And if you opt in, the ad (and only the ad) feeds the European ChatGPT Ad Library, a public record anyone can browse.
Privacy design, because in Europe that is the product: contributing is off by default, the consent screen lists exactly what leaves your browser, we never see prompts or conversations, and our server does not store IP addresses. The library data is CC BY, free for anyone to use, including our competitors.
Why real users instead of bots: every existing ChatGPT ad tracker fires synthetic prompts through proxies. That samples the market but never sees what real, logged-in, personalised delivery looks like. A consent-based panel of real users does. In one US B2B category we counted 165 advertisers and 800+ placements in 90 days.
The first ChatGPT ads Europeans ever see are appearing this week, and they are being documented from day one. I would love your feedback, especially on the detection (ChatGPT's ad DOM changes very regularly) and on what you would want a public ad library to show. I will be here all day.
