What do you think? …

There was a HUGE thread on Secret between techie almost-moms about how bad parenting forums are, and how much of a need there is for innovation in this space.

@rrhoover do you have any contact information for the founders?

@davemorin @rrhoover We just launched something similar along the same principles. Check us out too. https://www.producthunt.com/tech...

Finally: a place where you can bore all your friends about baby stuff without pissing them off!

@rrhoover I'm a huge fan of niche social networks for highly engaged audiences. For instance, I really like what Backplane was doing, but they hadn't made the transition to mobile like a company such as Amino is trying to do. Preggie seems to have the ability to capture a woman's attention leading up to pregnancy, during pregnancy, and as a new mother. And from a business perspective, this is a very easily monetizable demographic for advertisers and for on-site commerce.

@besvinick @rrhoover We absolutely share that same vision. We believe that conversations can be a very natural transition to commerce.Check us out. https://www.producthunt.com/tech...

In the future, there will be a social network for everything. But seriously, I'm curious about these niche/focused apps. The big challenge (imho) is long-term engagement. Will mom's use this after their child is born? Any mom's want to weigh in?

@rrhoover great point. They could just add a funnel after the mom's due date into the "Social Network for New Moms" app. Would imagine if they're engaged with the first app they'd use the next one
Kristofer™
Eventually point them towards the "Social Network for Moms with a crazy teenager" and finally the "Social Network for Moms with kids that moved back into my basement"
