Wow, this is impressive. I didn't realize I had been on this many podcasts. Cool use case: find and listen to podcasts from your favorite celebs. Here are a ton of podcasts with Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino).
Adam Kazwell
@rrhoover love it! can't wait to listen to these pods with Chuck Klosterman: https://www.podcat.com/people/vK...

Hey there! I'm the engineer behind podcat. This is still a work in progress, so I appreciate all feedback! If you have a podcast I'd love to speak with you. Thank you very much for all the support! I'm based in hawaii so I'll be on in the morning to answer your questions.

@jpwhitaker This is absolutely awesome John! Podcat is a great service, and much needed. We all know how hard every podcatcher, crawler, curator (looking at you @producthunt, EarbudFM, and so many others) repeat a lot of the same work every single time. Podcat should help make things more efficient, especially as you increase coverage. Like @rstankov, I also want to know if you plan to provide an API?
Franco Varriano
@jpwhitaker this is pretty sweet! Congrats on the the launch! Would love to chat about how I can help out (I run the Hack To Start podcast). Wanna ping me? Hey[@]hacktostart.com
John-Patrick Whitaker
@kartikparija @producthunt @rstankov - Definitely thinking about it now!
Radoslav Stankov
@jpwhitaker does podcat have an API for searching the podcasts?
John-Patrick Whitaker
@rstankov Not yet, is that something you'd use?
Radoslav Stankov
@jpwhitaker I think the world needs something like open api for podcasts. When we were building Podcasts category on Product Hunt, such API would have saved us quite a lot of time and discussions.
John-Patrick Whitaker
@rstankov - very true, I was amazed that itunes doesn't put out a canonical list of shows.
Martin H. Normark
@jpwhitaker I could use an API I'm working on an app that allows you to bookmark moments within an episode. Regardless of podcast player. I need a way to find an episode, since I only have the name, and then download the episode and find the moment within the episode 😽😿🙀
Owen Williams
I really love this! Great job! Will you allow community contribution? Feels like rounding out the data would be awesome
John-Patrick Whitaker
@ow I want to allow Podcasters to be able to add and edit their own shows and profiles. I think the future is everyone adding the metadata to their RSS feeds.
Matt Williamson
@jpwhitaker would we be adding the metadata in the description field or in separate RSS tags? btw -- hit me (matt@edgy.bz). I produce the upcoming podcast Ordinary Heroes & curate for The Timbre & The Audio Signal (as well as regularly hunt podcasts here on PH). Would love to chat.
John-Patrick Whitaker
@mattcwill - I see it as being in the RSS, Schema.org has pretty good guidelines for aduio (http://schema.org/AudioObject), and I see they're working on a podcast proposal (https://github.com/schemaorg/sch...). I will definitely contact you soon!
Matt Williamson
@jpwhitaker Ahhh..... Nice. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. Was talking w/ a friend who brought up the issue of accuracy. How are you going to make sure people don't falsely claim someone like Ira hosts their show? Are you going to reach out & try to establish a rep at major collectives/radio stations to monitor information tagged with employees' names? i.e., WBEZ would have a designated person that would get an alert for any new addition with "Ira Glass" in it to verify that, in fact, he did host that show/was involved with it.

The subway animation in the header is sweet!
John-Patrick Whitaker
@thomasmeagher Thank you! My good friend Abby did all the art: https://dribbble.com/abbylupine
Harry Stebbings
@jpwhitaker I love you! This is insane as a podcast maker myself this is so helpful for me. Holy shit, I never knew I had done 70 hours of interviews, I am getting old here! @rrhoover you might have been on a few shows but your interview with @twentyminutevc was the best! ;)
Ross Simmonds
I thought of @harrystebbings as soon as I saw this. This will make your stalking pre-interview 10x easier 😉
John-Patrick Whitaker
@harrystebbings Aw man I really appreciate it! I really like that hours tally as well.
Spencer Handley
@jpwhitaker this is so awesome man! Such a useful tool!
