This is very obviously vibe-coded, and not vibe-coded well, I must say. I got an error trying to open the task I created during onboarding. On top of that, you need to commit to $19 in two weeks before you can actually see the product, which is honestly predatory for neurotypical people, but for people with ADHD this is below the belt. And nowhere inside the product you can even cancel that payment, the only place is inside the email from the payment provider.
So, deferred payment first. Product second. Remembering to cancel the payment is on you.
Money grab at the expense of the neurodivergent. What else is new.
@2cun Thank you for trying out PickTime, we welcome sincere sharing, but would love to clear up some major misunderstandings regarding our product and billing design.
First, we are incredibly sorry about the error you encountered during the onboarding task, It may be an issue that occurs under certain circumstances, and we are actively identifying and fixing it.
Regarding your concerns about our pricing and transparency, we want to clarify how our system actually works:
* Standard Trial Architecture: Prompting users with a premium trial or subscription option during onboarding is a standard practice across mainstream apps to showcase full capabilities early on. However, we do not force it.
* The Paywall Can Be Skipped: There is a close button (X) on the subscription screen. You do not have to commit to a trial or enter payment details to use the product. You can close it and proceed completely for free.
* Full Feature Free Tier: The free version gives you access to all features—including AI task deconstruction and companion modes. It is a usage-based tier because running these advanced AI features incurs high server costs. The premium subscription is simply for heavy users who need a massive allotment of AI credits.
* Flexible Pricing on the Roadmap: As an early-stage product, we know our initial pricing tiers might feel limited. We are already planning to introduce more affordable tiers tailored for light AI users.
We are absolutely not a cash grab, full feature free tier is a strong avidence. If you’re willing to give us another look, please use our Product Hunt launch discount to explore the full version more affordably. We’d love to have your feedback as we continue to refine the experience.
@2cun I got the point, it's because the last page of onbaording, now I removed 'Unlock the full system' page. Now, after onboarding, directly enter subscription page, which has a close button, click this button then you are in free plan.

Congrats! How does PickTime determine the right MVA when the brain dump contains multiple competing priorities?
@crystalmei Thank you so much! That strikes right at the heart of the problem.
PickTime handles competing priorities by avoiding rigid rules and focusing on your specific context. The AI filters through the noise and determines the right MVA based on three core pillars:
User Habits & State: It learns your personal rhythm and energy levels. If it’s a "low-energy day," it automatically scales down the MVA to match your capacity.
Deep User Context: Instead of giving generic answers, the AI acts like a personal coach that knows your past tasks, execution patterns, goals, and feedback.
Task Characteristics: It maps out the inherent friction of the task. It then isolates the single micro-step with the lowest activation energy—something so small your brain won't fight it.
Our goal isn't to build a perfect master plan, but to find the easiest entry point to help you build momentum right now!
The idea seems interesting. The pricing page says there's a free version, but now I'm stuck in the onboarding with a mandatory payment. I don't care if there's a free trial or not, I want to try the free version first. Free version is not the same as free trial. Right now, the pricing page feels like a lie.
@noxxys OK, I think I got the point, for anyone who want to try free version first.
Choose a plan on the last page of onboarding.
Then click 'X' on subscription page, then you are in free plan
@noxxys I removed 'Unlock the full system' page. Now, after onboarding, directly enter subscription page, which has a close button, click this button then you are in free plan.

@bin_sun I still see that. Should I clear the browser cache?
@bin_sun nevermind, after refreshing the page, this dialog went away and I can now access the app. Thank you

Congrats on the launch! I like the focus on execution rather than just task management.
The MVA concept feels right because procrastination often comes from the first step feeling too expensive, not from lacking a full plan.
Curious how PickTime balances being a supportive body double without becoming another system that nags the user.
@alstonzhuang Thanks a ton for the launch love!
Being a warm, supportive companion are always our product philosophy,Our Companion Mode is designed for "body doubling" rather than constant popping-up. The AI is just there—virtually working alongside you, listening, observing, and logging progress in real-time during your deep work or meetings. It's a shared presence, not an aggressive pinging machine.
One-Click Forgive & Reschedule: Traditional apps nag you when you miss a deadline, which triggers a shame cycle. PickTime defaults to support. If you miss a time block or get stuck, you can instantly hit "One-Click Reschedule" to dynamically move things around with zero penalties or guilt. For overdue tasks, we even avoid using the warning red color.
Adaptability to Your Energy Levels: The AI acts like an understanding personal coach. On low-energy days, instead of nagging you to push harder, the system automatically adapts and helps you downgrade tasks to even smaller, low-friction versions.
Our ultimate goal is to reduce cognitive noise and help you fluidly return to your main line of focus whenever you're ready—no guilt trips attached!
For anyone who want to try free version first.
Choose a plan on the last page of onboarding, this won't do checkout immediately .
Then click 'X' on subscription page, then you are in free plan

Absolutely a NEED...
Wondering how we deal with privacy?
@yulesenmiao Really appreciated for asking this! Privacy is a huge priority for us, especially when dealing with personal workflows.
To be completely transparent about where we stand right now: on a high level, our current data protection matches mainstream SaaS standards. However, we are actively pushing toward a much more ideal, privacy-first architecture.
Here is exactly how PickTime handles your data today, alongside our concrete roadmap:
Where We Are Today: For features like managing files or processing local documentation, everything runs locally on your machine via our client—your actual files are never uploaded to our cloud. However, to deconstruct tasks and power the AI companion, text and voice prompts still rely on secure cloud LLMs. We also practice strict data minimization, ensuring our system logs track events only, completely avoiding your raw text content.
Our Mid-Term Roadmap: We are already actively planning and benchmarking support for local, open-source models. This will allow you to handle task breakdown and core interactions completely offline, removing the cloud LLM dependency entirely for privacy-sensitive users.
Our Long-Term Vision (True Edge Privacy): Ultimately, we want your local device to become your personal data center. In the long run, users will be able to run a dedicated local agent on specialized hardware. All cloud-synchronized data will be end-to-end encrypted, requiring your private key on the local device to decrypt it.
Achieving that final stage will require the broader hardware and software ecosystems to mature together, but we are fully committed to building toward that local-first, zero-knowledge future!
