@lasserafn@adammydesign@bentossell you can definitely disable it from opening when you plug your phone in, but there are many more reasons for iTunes to accidentally launch (written by @krausefx):
- You click play/pause while listening to a web-based music player (e.g. SoundCloud)
- You launch iTunes by clicking on the icon by mistake
- Someone sent you a link to an iOS app
- You click on a link on the web, and didn't expect it to be an Music link
- You open a file in Finder, and forgot to change the default app to VLC
@markoxvee cannot focus on anything else once you pointed it out.

@markoxvee@nivo0o0 That's because they are the only thing of any use in the video. Nom nom nom.

Do you realise that this behaviour can still be disabled in iTunes? Apparently, the description has been changed to "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected". I have it unchecked for all my devices and iTunes never launches when I plug in for a charge. So yes, "Overkill" is probably a pretty appropriate name TBH. :-) Perhaps "I Forgot to Google It" is more appropriate.
@frassmith Check out the description of the project, there are so many more reasons why iTunes would launch:
- You connect an iPhone or iPad to your Mac
- You click play/pause while listening to a web-based music player (e.g. SoundCloud)
- You launch iTunes by clicking on the icon by mistake
- Someone sent you a link to an iOS app
- You click on a link on the web, and didn't expect it to be an Music link
- You updated iTunes
- You open a file in Finder, and forgot to change the default app to VLC
This is absolutely not something for which you need extra software running on your machine. This is the first time I wish I could down vote something on Product Hunt.
@elliotronen You're a 100% correct, just use
```
while true; do; pkill iTunes; sleep 1; done
```
in your terminal :)

@krausefx or just go into iTunes
settings and UNCHECK that square box that says "launch iTunes when device is connected" BAM! No more iTunes on plug in. lol. Keep trying bud.
This is the perfect idea! Here at Softorino, we're actually stumbling upon this EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! We're letting people close iTUnes when using WALTR as well.
But to create an automatic killer – brilliant. @krausefx would you mind if put a small interface over it and promote it for free on our website as a free solution to all of our users??? Credit will be given of course :)
I still use iTunes for some aspects of music, but there are 2 things I'd like to point out:
1) I am a music addict, and streaming doesn't serve all my needs, and
2) This, lol:
