First of all, I think every kind of endeavors is great and it's definitely easier to criticize rather than to make something. But for me Overkill seems to be more like a short-lived solution for those who are annoyed by iTunes, but too lazy to google native way of fixing the issue. How do you guys plan to develop this product further and rock the world? (sorry if you already provided a comment and I missed it) π

I hate iTunes as much as everyone here, but you don't need an app for that.
Open iTunes, go to your device, untick "Automatically sync when the iPhone is connected".
If you also want iTunes to stop from responding to your keyboard media keys, there is a command for that:
launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.rcd.plist 2> /dev/null
Make one for the App Store please. For example when you check out an app on safari and suddenly it wants to show it to you in the App Store. But this apps works well to prevent iTunes from opening when viewing an iOS app in safari!
@shimmb Check out the description of the project, there are so many more reasons why iTunes would launch:
- You connect an iPhone or iPad to your Mac
- You click play/pause while listening to a web-based music player (e.g. SoundCloud)
- You launch iTunes by clicking on the icon by mistake
- Someone sent you a link to an iOS app
- You click on a link on the web, and didn't expect it to be an Music link
- You updated iTunes
- You open a file in Finder, and forgot to change the default app to VLC
You can also just completely uninstall iTunes from OSX : https://www.tekrevue.com/tip/uni... Just have to be careful when running updates. iTunes will be reinstalled if you blanket update all apps and Software updates.
