Wouldn't randomly picking up a book at the bookstore accomplish the same thing? Are all users getting the same random book? Also by nature of the price, isn't it automatically selecting out books that are still selling well?
With the insanely wide selection of great book though, wouldn't this benefit from knowing even a LITTLE bit about the user?
Yes, I see that I can individually choose to only get a mystery or a biography, but if it integrated into my Goodreads, or asked me to rate a few example books, would the recommender give me better curated titles?
Otherwise I'm more concerned that I'm just going to get whatever 2nd hand book is both decent but also provides to the greatest profit margin to the company.
With your lists of 'must reads' getting longer and longer, it might be hard, and even feel risky, to give up control and get a random book. It might also feel really good. Believe in the risk!
Hat tip to @axelk for this find 👍

I was thinking about literally the same idea a few days back :) Good to see it out there. As they say, at any given point, your idea is being worked upon by atleast 10 other people somewhere in the world.
