I built NotchWise because I was lying to myself about Anki. Every morning I'd tell myself "I'll do my reviews after lunch." After lunch it became "after dinner." After dinner it became "first thing tomorrow." Tomorrow it became 460 due cards instead of 400, and the cycle got worse. The thing is, I didn't actually mind doing 5 cards. Or 10. What I couldn't face was opening the app and seeing that number. The mountain. The guilt. Then I realised something. My MacBook notch is right there, all day, doing absolutely nothing. What if it just showed me one card? Not 400. Just one. While I'm already doing something else. That's NotchWise. Cards appear in the notch. You deal with them one at a time, in the gaps between tasks. You never "sit down to do Anki." It just happens. Some details for the curious: I built this solo in about two weeks using Swift, SwiftUI, and Claude Code. 40 features, 781 tests. Apple rejected it 4 times before approving on the 5th try. Each rejection taught me something the documentation never mentioned. My favourite: you need a Paid Apps Agreement before sandbox purchases work. Nobody tells you this. It imports any .apkg file, supports both SM-2 and FSRS scheduling, and auto-switches decks based on which app you're using. Everything runs on-device. No API calls, no cloud, no accounts.
