Jack Dorsey, Oct 24: "there is no moat"

This pissed me off.

Mainly as it should be "There will be no moat" and no-one truly knows when or how.

But more so that the SF technorati holding all the capital, technical & human leverage just keep repeatedly forgetting that the world is BIG and subject to the physical laws of nature.

In all the complexity, beauty and mystery of the natural universe - our planet demonstrates the truly epic mind-boggling range and variety that the laws of physics have ended up expressing themselves in all these permutations we call Life.

Fragmentation appears to be the default - the path of least resistance for Life to mathematically become anything at all. Centralisation is a human construct to help us navigate the world immediately around us, and in THIS case it's telling the rest of us we just shouldn't bother.

"AI will eat, build and become everything, so look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

Piss off. Builders want to build. People want to solve problems, overcome challenges, share ideas, build communities, contribute with purpose. That hasn't changed in thousands of years and it won't change because the tools got faster. Technical leverage doesn't change how people are motivated to contribute.

So nomoat.app stands against any AI maximalists that make you feel building your thing is pointless - because someone else (who doesn't want to rebuild everything) probably does want your help!

Just because you know how to cook doesn't mean you want to prep & cook every meal.
Just because you want to make money doesn't mean you need to build your own accounting system.

Just because you know how a car works doesn't mean you build your own car.

P.S. I do believe AI will eat & do everything within my lifetime, and that we aren't prepared for the exponential change, but I am still going to keep building cool shit anyway.
