We built NeoReceipt after seeing how many freelancers and small business owners still relied on shoe boxes, wallets, email folders, or random photos to keep track of receipts. When tax season arrived, they spent hours sorting expenses and many deductions were simply missed because receipts had been lost or forgotten.
We wanted to make expense tracking as simple as taking a photo.
Our first idea was just an AI receipt scanner, but as we talked to more users, we realized scanning alone wasn't enough. People wanted automatic categorization, searchable receipts, expense insights, and a simple dashboard that helped them stay organized all year—not just during tax season.
That led us to build NeoReceipt: an AI-powered receipt scanner that automatically extracts receipt details, organizes expenses into tax-friendly categories, and keeps everything in one place.
This is just the beginning. We're actively working on smarter AI categorization, integrations, mileage tracking, and more features based on user feedback.
We'd love to hear your thoughts:
- What's your biggest frustration with managing receipts?
- Which feature would save you the most time?
Thanks for checking out NeoReceipt, we're excited to build it with the community! 🚀

Scanned a stack of coffee shop and Uber receipts and was impressed it slotted them right into the right Schedule C categories without me lifting a finger. Wish I'd had this last April.

@nazar48ky Thank you! That’s awesome to hear. That’s exactly the experience we were aiming for. Tax time is stressful enough, so if NeoReceipt can take a pile of receipts and organize them into the right Schedule C categories automatically, we’ve done our job. Hopefully next April is a lot less painful!

Scanned a stack of coffee shop receipts from last month and was surprised it actually pulled out the right Schedule C categories without me tagging anything. The export looks clean enough my accountant might not roast me this year.

@nihaldemirbozan Love hearing that, thank you! We built NeoReceipt so you don’t have to spend time tagging every receipt manually. If your accountant has less to clean up at tax time, that’s a win for everyone. Really appreciate you giving it a try!

A mileage log integration would be huge for me. I drive between client sites constantly and tracking that manually alongside receipts is a pain. If NeoReceipt could pull from my phone's GPS or let me log trips with a tap and roll them into Schedule C, it would basically replace two tools for me.

@sedanurululuuz Thanks for the suggestion! Mileage tracking is one of the most requested features and it’s definitely on our roadmap. We’re exploring automatic drive detection along with one tap trip logging so mileage and receipts can live in one place and flow into the right Schedule C categories. Replacing multiple tools is exactly the direction we want to take.

Have you considered adding mileage tracking with automatic GPS detection for those client meetings? Would save freelancers from manually logging every drive between jobs and could pair nicely with the existing receipt sorting.

@sametaybarpe4o Absolutely, we’ve been thinking about it! Automatic mileage tracking with GPS detection is high on our roadmap. The goal is to automatically detect drives, let you review them, and associate each trip with the right client or business purpose. Combined with receipt categorization, it would make expense tracking much more complete for freelancers and self-employed professionals.

Would love a mileage log feature that pulls from my phone's GPS automatically. As a freelancer doing client visits, tracking that for deductions is a pain and it would round out the expense tracking nicely.

@halimeisbn Thank you! We love this idea and it’s very much aligned with where we want to take NeoReceipt. Automatic GPS based mileage tracking would make it much easier for freelancers to capture deductible trips without any manual effort. Combined with receipt scanning and Schedule C categorization, it would bring business expenses into one simple workflow.

One thing I'd love is mileage tracking built in, since I log a lot of driving between client meetings and it always feels like a chore to switch apps. Auto-detecting trips from my calendar or location would be a huge timesaver come tax season.
