ππ» Howdy PH,
I'm Jesper and I'm the creator of Namekin. The idea for Namekin came about when my wife and I were chatting about how awkward it is that everyone in our respective families has inconsistent email addresses at all these different providers - why can't we just email mom@ourfamily.com and be done with it? From there, the rest of the features blossomed out as we brainstormed other things that we thought would be useful, and sure enough - they were. Important date reminders and the family mailing list, in particular, have been killer features for us as we've been dogfooding Namekin, and now I'd love to have you join as well.
π Would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, ideas, and best holiday joke you've heard so far this year π
P.S: Namekin is also a great gift you can give your family this holiday, and it's currently 20% off through December π€
Hey Jesper - awesome product!
What are you using for the actual email? Is it just PostFix and a custom UX or are you pushing this out to a third-party provider and just managing the domains?
@adamscochran Thanks Adam! :-) E-mail is completely via third party services, and managing it all via the Node app. Postfix/etc can be a bit tricky to get right and maintain, so as tempting as it was to go that route, I opted for outsourcing that bit.
Curious about some geeky details? π€
- Nodejs/Express for implementing the API
- DigitalOcean with Dokku for hosting the API
- Netlify for API proxy / Static content hosting
- Parcel for static site building

Maybe I am not seeing it, but I can't find the pricing anywhere. I think this is a clever idea to capture a niche, but I'd love to know what you're charging. I registered my name as a domain in 1998 and constantly get asked how my email works - there's a demand for this for sure.
@andreasduess Thanks for taking a look! Yeah, pricing is unintentionally hidden up until the point where you've picked the domain you want and need to pay. I'm working on moving it to the front-page and making it easy to find. ππ»
