I think this is really cool. My concern is.... if someone isn't going to give you time of day on email or DM then why would they take a video call (something MUCH more invasive and requiring much more effort on the person recieving the call)? The answer... well because they will be getting paid by the minute. This could encourage people to prolong calls unnecessarily in order to maximise profit. Maybe I'm just too broken and cynical.

@mickc79 We are all about ridiculously expensive videocalls and we have several examples when someone was willing to pay like $20k for 20 minutes, to pitch a business idea and the Persona did accept it. Initially out of curiosity and then they ended up doing business. And if someone is ready to pay for attention their intentions are most likely serious. Meaningful conversations you know :)

@suparchie This started from a single introduction that turned into a 30 minutes videocall we organized and made $10k for doing so, and then it continued. It gave us enough resources to shift from a concierge service model towards a full-scale tech solution. Scaling technology instead of headcount of service workers is what we are after. Hence, a full-fledged app + a contact search solution used internally.

@kensavage Just leave a custom request and our connectors will find you a good option, like “luxury real estate agent from south Africa” or “any F1 pilot from team France”. Let the person know your reasons and adjust your cover letter. Take this step seriously, people are there, but it’s up to you to make them answer. An incognito connector accepts a request and informs persona on a subject matter, a deadline, and call duration. Connector offers you, the caller, one or multiple available time slots. You book a time slot and make a fully refundable payment for the call. This is the opposite of clarity.fm, where database is there and you cannot call anybody else.

When I was first told about this app, I was interested. I know someone will crack the mentorship on-demand space at some point, and I want to see it happen. I think mentorship and gaining access and insights to smart people is incredibly valuable. My Name Is promises no-BS video chatting with awesome people from tech influencers to celebrities and authors by paying for the time. It seems somewhere in between what Whale app was and what Cameo is today. I'm excited to see where it goes.
