Hi! I'm Ash Ambirge, and I'm the Founder of Meat & Hair creative writing newsletter, author of the Penguin Random House book THE MIDDLE FINGER PROJECT, creative writing expert, and "Instructor of Delight." I checked with the IRS and they said definitely not to list that on any forms but I'm definitely listing it here because that's what creative writing is all about: delight. And that's what Meat & Hair is all about, too: using words to delight your customers as your greatest competitive advantage. (When they copy your idea, what do you have left? A race to the bottom in pricing is not the answer. You only have *your brand*.)
That's precisely why I launched this daily newsletterāwhich I call "the most fun-to-read newsletter in the world"ābecause every morning I curate the internet's most irreverent, fun-to-read paragraphs, copy & content, and sends that morningās favorites straight to your inboxābecause creative charisma rubs off like butter, and we desperately need it to.
It's about creating pleasure through text. It's about writing things that show your audience a real desire to be there with them. It's desiring them and having them desire you in response. It's creating a paradise of words people want to be in. Most writing is frigid, automatic, unaffectionate, static, unimpressionable, limp, passionless, detachedāand wholly catatonic. I died three hours ago and you're still talking, Brenda! But centuries of corporate writing and schooled writing and essays and theses and trying not to sound like an incompetent boob on your resume have made us this way. We've mechanically removed all pleasure, convinced this is what made us professional. But oh, is that a whopper of a lie: what makes you a professional is a diligent devotion to your work. And your work inevitably involves writing. No matter what you do for a living, the modern economy demands that you be a writer, because the internet runs on words. Whether you're a content marketer, a freelancer, a storyteller, or a professional writer, writing for pleasure is one of the most critical skill sets you need. No one's going to be bored to death into a sale. No one's going to begrudgingly turn the page. There's nothing like being stuck with a sentence you don't want to read. String enough of those sentences together, and you become a person no one wants to be stuck listening to. And that's a problem. Not just professionally, but have you ever BEEN to dinner with someone who just drones on?
This newsletter is designed to help you add effervescence to your words. To use creativity to help you get what you wantāand help your reader also get what they do: an experience that makes them better for having engaged. Pleasure, delight, and the satisfaction that comes from having read something that felt good to read. Whether you're writing your bio, a sales page, a love letter or a novel, it's never about you, and always about the emotions your words create. Together, we're going to free you from the shackles of "professional," and help you write with merriment, joy, and creativityānot just for you, but for them.

Before Meat & Hair:
Wake up, grab coffee, open news on my phone. Subsequently spent the next 9,857 minutes in a state of panic and bury myself under my thick blanket of covers to attempt to restart my day.
After Meat & Hair:
Bounce out of bed, read Meat & Hair while smell of coffee fills the room. Before my first sip, Iāve taken over the world with expertly crafted emails and social posts. My family asks why Iām laughing.
Ash is genius. She said she believes in making the things you wish existed - and thatās how this came to be. But I think she actually created something the world desperately needs right now (and is incredibly fun-to-read/educational/spit out your kale salad hilarious). Who needs meditation when you have Meat & Hair? Kidding GP, thereās room in the world for both.
But seriously, this is really one of the best creative writing newsletters. I haven't missed a day since it launched and it's already helped my writing efforts. It's even helped re-spark my creativity beyond writing. Get on the list.
@melissa_howard Melissa, are you TRYING to make me buy a printer? Because this is the kind of thing that makes a maker want to PRINT IT OUT, march down to the local framing place, put it behind a nice, thick piece of glass.....and then send it to every hater who's ever awkwardly asked how "the internet thing" is going. ;) Ha!!! You made my damn day. THANK YOU for taking the time out of yours to write this. XOXOX - Ash

Seriously THE BEST newsletter I have ever signed up for! The level of whimsical wordsmithery is enough to leave your creative brain drooling for more. I must have used "bearded potato wedge" in a legit sentence at least 3 times in the last two weeks. It's so good to feel inspired to write with actual personality again :)
@ssteen MADE. MY. MORNING. This is the goal: "To feel inspired to write with actual personality again." Yes!!!! Bearded potato wedges for the win!!! THANK YOU, STORM. ā¤ļø

When this newsletter hits my inbox, I drop everything and read it.
It's helped me get out of creative rut, be comfortable with being more fun, edgy and less of a boring buffalo.
@priyanain "Be comfortable with being more fun." THAT is definitely one of the goals and needs to go on the subscribe page! ā¤ļø XOXOXO Priya!!!!!!

Newsletters are dead for the 1,786,356th time. Meat & Hair is wanted for murder and Iām officially an accomplice. Iāve also become an addict. Each hit makes me smarter than a 1776 Harvard Graduate. You should try it. Come on. Just one hit.
@ashley_palmer Ha!! Ash!! At first I was like, OH NO! Dead?! And then I realized what you were doing there. š (P.S. Let's all pretend we graduated from Harvard.)

I now have an email folder dedicated to all things ASH, since I cannot delete any of her MEATY HAIRY MAGIC! I just hope some of her M & H skills rub off on me (I'll throw away my lint brush, and this pescatarian will throw a steak on the barbie to celebrate all her meaty hairy goodness!).
