Promising concept!
Although I'm not looking to find a job right now, but I always had that issue to find the right job for my skillset and experience that I often just gave up on search after a few hours of trial.
The other issue I found that I always needed to re-design my CV in order to match the description that I thought might work for me. And that is the suggested method of doing it as advised from many CV experts. And I think it is a bigger pain entirely.
I'm not sure if it even close to your goals but an app that redesigns my CV (and saving me a tonne of time) based on the jobs that I might bring in myself is an easier sell at least on me!
I also have a product launched today called ArcAngels. You can find it on my profile if you'd like to check it out.
Good luck on your startup journey!
@peterwolf Thanks for the suggestion ! I think there's quite a few CV redesign apps out there so I'll leave that to those lovely creators but your point about giving up after a few hours of trying makes sense! Do you think gamifying/ a rewards system would keep you more interested in continuing the job search? For example certain rewards every 20-25 or so job matches?
Hey Zoe,
About the redesign: I wasn't thinking about doing the actual work with the doc or pdf itself, just to re-craft the sentences. What to keep, what to get rid of, what to change and how to match certain applications. There's a lot of thinking and time goes into the process.
No, I don't think any gamification will do this trick. The most annoying thing about applying for jobs is the tricks the job application sites are doing just to get you in their database. They are often keep you on the hook until you share all your data and then they just say something like "sorry but the position is not available anymore".
If you ask me, I think that it soon become pointless to provide a CV at all. It should be all online, app based, approached by the workplaces and not vice versa, and it should modify itself (the currently displayed information) dynamically (of course by using real data and not made up one) to match job needs. But that is an even larger challenge.
Trying to stay in your realm: the better results your app yields, the less time researchers should have to spend with research, right? So my bet would be towards a great search experience rather than gamification in this case.
