I upgraded to the paid annual plan expecting a platform that connected serious guests with legitimate podcasts. What I found instead is a site dominated by low-engagement shows and pay-to-play solicitations.
Even the top three highest-rated podcasts on MatchMaker.fm have weak engagement. One has roughly 50 YouTube subscribers with recent episodes drawing single-digit or low double-digit views. Another has just 32 subscribers. The third has 39,000 subscribers but averages only a few hundred views per video across more than 2,600 uploads, with many recent full-length episodes still under 100 views.
Every outreach I received followed the same pattern: inflated claims of reach followed by a request for money to appear. I did not receive a single legitimate interview invitation.
Reputable podcasts sell advertising. Charging guests to appear is not the service I signed up for.
I operate a successful consulting and expert witness practice and have significant experience as a podcast guest and mainstream media commentator. I know the difference between a real booking and a sales pitch.
Signing up for the annual membership was a mistake. I have requested a full refund.

Becoming a guest on podcasts is HOT right now! π₯π₯π₯π₯
If you're looking for MORE EXPOSURE for your new product or site, then getting booked as a guest on podcasts is a great way to accelerate this process. Think about it, if you're on just 10 podcasts with an average audience of 5000 each - thats 50,000 listeners who will get direct exposure to your product or service!
Plus if you have your own podcast, finding incredible guests can be tricky. MatchMaker.fm is full of high profile guests who are ready and waiting to appear on your show.
Are you...
Hey guys -- just signed up. Looks like a great service. I had a question though..... in the video it sounds like you'll have a service where a Podcaster who has just had a guest flake out can use your service to find a potential Guest who is available and ready to step into the newly available slot. Kind of like an Uber but where Guests are the drivers, and Podcasters are the passengers. Would be cool to be able to fire up my MatchMaker.fm app, turn on my "available now" status while I'm working at my desk, and then get pinged by a Podcaster who is ready to start recording right now. Not sure if that's what you meant in your video - but that's what I was hoping would be a (future?) feature!
@richard_lau3 AHOY! Glad to have you onboard! Although we don't have an "available now" feature, it sounds like a really good idea, so I've passed it onto the team. If you have any other suggestions don't be afraid to ping us on Twitter or Instagram @podcastdotco.

I am both a podcast host and a guest on other podcasts. With just a few clicks, Matchmaker lets me find the perfect guests for my show and shows for me to be a guest.
Last year I had a life-altering experience. As I think about what happened, I find it helpful to share my story with others. Every time I share, I find new layers of meaning, and the listeners find value in the shared story. Podcasts are perfect for this exercise. The hosts ask insightful questions. Both the host and I are often surprised by what we uncover.
As I was thinking about how to find podcasts that fit with my story, I found MatchMaker. The system allows me to sort through hundreds of potential podcasts. Iβm able to listen to episodes and find just the right podcast to tell my story. I can contact the podcast hosts right in the system without leaving the site.
So far, I have booked myself on four podcasts and completed two interviews. The conversations were just right. The hosts were kind and curious. They communicated well before and after the discussions.
I could have paid a PR agent hundreds or thousands of dollars, and I donβt know if I would have landed on the right shows. MatchMaker lets me control my story with only a few clicks.

Love the idea! Similar to what Anchor use to offer. I tried to sign up, but your website is kicking out a server error.
