What do you think? …

Mikkel Malmberg
Hi PH! πŸ‘‹ I made this for myself – thought you'd like it. I have a few exciting features in mind but wanted to see what the market thinks before I get ahead of myself πŸ˜‚ There are already a few products in this niche but I didn't like the way they worked so I built my own. (Boy, is that a story I've heard before?) Happy to answer any and all questions you might have! For more: Check out my recent interview on Failory on how I bootstrapped a Patreon-ish project to $2,000/month πŸ“ˆ
John
@mikker cool product! Are you planning to add a twitter signup too?
Mikkel Malmberg
@pregenun Thanks! Actually no. I'm planning on focussing my few efforts on targetting Instagram. Adding more sign-in services sound like a simple thing to do but conceptually the whole product explodes.

I'm surprised that these linking sites keep popping up without any innovation. This is an echo of Linktr.ee or Linkin.bio. Show us something new please.

Pros:

Solves the single link issue on Instagram.

Cons:

I have found better alternatives.

Jose Paul Martin
Yes, Shorby was one that was on Appsumo recently. I've used later.com and linkin.bio which seems to be best of the lot.
Arief Rakhman
Better named tho,
Andrew Watson
How about https://www.producthunt.com/post... ? You can create a mobile optimized micro-landing page and add a lot more than just links
Aisling Deacon
Used @contactinbio for a while, loving it as it has way more features that those copies
Omar Sinan
I remember getting an email from AppSumo about an identical product called Shorby (I think) and thinking why isn’t this free, should I make one? You beat me to it, kudos to you sir πŸ˜‚
Mikkel Malmberg
@omarhashimoto There are a few more (some of them in the sidebar here on PH). I don't think you should be deterred. Plenty of room and Instagram users for everyone πŸ˜‰

Hi Mikkel, Cool stuff! πŸš€ Do you collect any data on the engagement metrics of the links? It may be a cool proxy to measure the quality of an influencer, as I imagine bots can't navigate beyond clicking the link, like they can give fake likes or comments. Could be an interesting way to rate influencers and then monetize the product beyond freemium models. Not sure about the ethics of it though.πŸ€”
Paul Maloney
@ignacio_guli_moreno Linkkle does that and has analytics.
Mikkel Malmberg
@ignacio_guli_moreno I don't collect anything, no. I don't think I'd want to collect too much either. I can see myself adding basic "Impressions / Clicks" counters. But I'm not much of a stats person, so if that's your thing, I'd say pick the alternative that gives you the best stats πŸ“ˆπŸ˜Š

Isn't working. It says link is blocked. Check it out.
Mikkel Malmberg
@vaibhavsisinty I've had some trouble with Twitter not wanting to link it as well. What browser are you using? It's not blocked in any of mine if I access it directly.
Vaibhav Sisinty
@mikker could be my network. Not working on any of my browsers. Says categorised as adult so blocked.
Mikkel Malmberg
@vaibhavsisinty I wonder what has been going on on this domain πŸ€” off to the WaybackMachine!
Vaibhav Sisinty
@mikker Problem was with my work network. Checked on phone. It works πŸ˜‰ Looks like a legit side project, do you plan to integrate re-targeting pixels?
Mikkel Malmberg
@vaibhavsisinty Hadn’t considered. Sounds like a fine idea. Utm sources too I guess.
Vlad Arbatov
Mikkel, this could be a very useful product if you really could extend it beyond Instagram and add custom domain support. I saw you mentioned that more social logins are tough to integrate, but think of this: lots of people have personal domains and need no more then simple vcard with links (like mssg.me but this service is actually very restrictive in terms of what you can display). Simple email sign-up as an IG alternative would do. I can offer you any technical help in extending the product if you'd like.
Mikkel Malmberg
@vladzima Thanks! What you're describing is out of scope of what I want this to do. Makes it something completely else. The problem with more services isn't a technical one. I suppose I could add Twitter auth in 15mins or so thanks to Rails and Omniauth. But conceptually the product is instantly something completely different and I need to spread my already sparse efforts on supporting many platforms and cases instead of just this one. I really feel like being solely Instagram focused is a feature and not something I need to "fix".

Neat idea, one alternative/related product that immediately comes to mind is Linktree (I see a lot of celebrities and influencers use it). I’m wondering how this differentiates (if at all) to that product?
Mikkel Malmberg
@herbosa Linktree is very similar, yes. I suppose the main differences are that they have more features and a paid version. Their profile administration tool and the profiles themselves also look and function differently than mine.
