Record your screen and camera across desktop, Chrome, or mobile, and share instantly with a click. Loom transforms video messages and meetings into clear context and next steps for your teammates and AI tools.
Hit record and hand off to AI, now in the new Loom app
Record your screen, a meeting, yourself and now…record for agents. No more typing out prompts to explain what's on your screen to agents. Capture video, audio, and on-screen actions, turning everyday walkthroughs into agent-ready prompts any AI tool can act on. Built natively into the reimagined, faster Loom for Mac app with precision area recording, new cam shapes, filters, backgrounds, and 4K capture by default. Give your AI agents the full picture. Also available in the Chrome extension.
Reviewers mostly see Loom as a fast, intuitive way to replace many meetings with async video, especially for demos, bug reports, onboarding, team updates, and customer communication. They repeatedly praise the simple record-and-share flow, clear visual context, comments on specific moments, and usefulness across time zones. Founders of Superhuman, Todoist, and Fundraisly echo that it cuts calls and speeds collaboration. The main complaints are rising prices, basic editing, buggy or laggy extensions, occasional upload or playback issues, and some frustration after the Atlassian acquisition.
fast performance (5)user-friendly interface (25)time-saving (33)screen and webcam recording (42)asynchronous communication (46)video sharing (35)
Loom replaced about half my meetings. Instead of booking 30 minutes to walk someone through a bug or a design change, I hit record, click through it, and paste the link.
They watch on 1.5x when it suits them, drop a comment on the exact frame, and we're done.
The time-zone tax just disappears.
What needs improvement
expensive pricing (2)limited free version (3)video editing (3)video quality (4)
Pricing has crept up since the Atlassian acquisition and the gap between free and Business is wider than it used to be. Solo founders and small teams feel that.
In-app editing is still basic. Trimming works but anything beyond that moving sections around, cleaning up filler words, tightening pauses sends me back into Descript or CapCut, which defeats the point of recording in Loom in the first place.
Mobile playback can stutter on longer videos over patchy connections. Worth a pass.
Tried Vidyard and CleanShot X's recording mode. Vidyard is fine but the free tier is tight and the player feels heavier.
CleanShot is brilliant for stills and short clips but isn't built for the share-and-comment workflow Loom nails. Stuck with Loom because the share-link experience is still the best in this category.
Atlassian acquired Loom... There were already plenty of issues (unreliable file management, constantly increasing prices, app disconnections), and especially considering the price, I can no longer recommend Loom as I did a few years ago. The shift to AI was an opportunity to add even more fees. I believe we can find better alternatives than this product, which is now a shadow of its former self.
Loom was a game-changer for us when working with multiple agencies spread across different timezones during our projects. Instead of scheduling endless calls or juggling calendars, we recorded clear, concise video updates and walkthroughs that agencies could watch on their own time. This asynchronous communication saved everyone hours and kept feedback loops moving smoothly.
Using Loom allowed us to explain design decisions, demonstrate workflows, and highlight key points visually—something that’s often lost in emails or chat messages.
If you’re managing cross-timezone teams or external partners, Loom is an essential tool to keep communication transparent and efficient without the headache of constant live meetings. (I also love that you get notified when someone watches your video so you have full transparency into how things are moving)
What's great

I’m Briana Ings from the Loom team at Atlassian, and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce Record for agents, built directly into our brand new Loom for Mac desktop app!
The Problem: Prompting AI is time consuming & misses the mark AI agents are incredible, but prompting them with text alone can be time consuming. Typing out complex multi-step workflows or comparing Figma specs for a design review can take forever, and key context can easily get lost. When agents miss those visual details, they often build the wrong thing, leaving you stuck re-prompting and redoing the work. Because of this, we found ourselves spending more time typing walls of instructions and taking screenshots than actually getting work done.
Show, Don’t Type: How Record for agents works
Instead of writing endless text prompts, you can simply record your screen and talk through what you want done.
Loom captures your voice, actions, URLs, and key visual moments (using native desktop tools like the Magic pen and Selection tool), then transforms the walkthrough into a clean, structured prompt ready for AI agents like Rovo, Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT to run with.
To power this, we completely rebuilt Loom for Mac for macOS 15+. It’s faster, has an 80% smaller footprint, and brings new camera styles, area-specific recording, teleprompter style Speaker Notes, and so much more.
Record for agents turns spoken intent and on-screen context (clicks, element selections, keyframes, console/network logs, and links) into structured, multimodal instructions for AI agents (Rovo, Claude, Cursor, JCA, etc.).
Where Record for agents shines:
When a task is tedious or slow to explain in text, just hit record:
Slide decks & presentations: Talk through an all-hands or monthly review while pointing to live dashboards and source docs—let your agent draft the slide copy and pull the visuals.
UI tweaks & bug fixes: Point directly to visual bugs, layout quirks, or styling changes so your coding agent knows exactly what to fix without guesswork.
Docs, briefs & summaries: Flip through multiple tabs, project boards, and data sources to generate a structured brief or status report in seconds.
Prototypes & user flows: Walk through a desired user journey across apps to give agents full end-to-end context.
Feature specs & PRDs: Brainstorm and narrate your idea out loud while referencing existing tools to produce a comprehensive spec.
Omri from the Loom team and excited to share the new Loom mac app with you! We're here to make Loom the best we can with your helpful feedback!
We build Loom on Loom in a few concrete ways, for things you can try with your team:
1. Everyone doing 'show and tell' by recording Loom demos and sharing on slack to spark discussion and get alignment
2. "This meeting could have been a Loom" - avoid unnecessary meetings and get maker time back by sharing our thoughts with each other asynchronously over Loom. This is more inclusive of time zone, team members different processing style and leaves the time when we do meet to be of high value.
3. Building with AI like we collaborate with a teammate. Instead of 'mastering the art of the prompt', we just record our thoughts and point our mouse and screen at what we want to build, and the models take it from there. This is also helpful for creating documents, slides or other content from your thoughts.
4. PR walkthroughs in Loom - When we open PRs, the authors often record a Loom with their thoughts on the change, context and considerations. This makes PR reviews a lot more human and effective, and helps build our 'institutional memory'. Since all of our Looms are recorded in Atlassian's team work graph, its very easy to find context that might be buried in that PR 8 months ago.
5. Collaborate - Comments on Loom are accessible/editable by the MCP. So if there's any feedback on a Loom, you can pull it into any of your workflows to address.
Report
The speed at which I can from "I need to do a thing" to "whoa the first draft of the thing is in front of me and its actually really good" is now measured in minutes thanks to what Loom unlocks for me with this. The ability for me to get what's in my head and what's on my screen into the hands of an agent so fast is such a step change in the speed and quality of how I get to work. Also - the new native Mac app is soooo good. The filters might seem like a whimsy thing, but I've actually seen people who typically treat recording themselves as a big formal hurdle realize that communicating with Loom doesn't have to be a production - and little things like the filters etc. bring a smile to folks who get to watch the results. 🌈

Ok this one I'll actually use. Half my agent runs end with "wait, what did it even do" and a Loom of the session fixes that. Nice one.
We're really excited to release this and the all new native Loom for Mac. Recording a Loom and simply showing your agent what you want is incredibly powerful, and we're just getting started. Let us know what we can add or do to make it fit better into your workflow.
@zachwaugh you built this AMAZING APP. It is a complete delight to use and your speed of innovation never ceases to impress me. Product Hunt community, Zach isn't kidding when he says he's just getting started - he ships every single day!
Seeing the native Loom for Mac come together has been a treat. It's faster, lighter and rock solid. Record for agents is my new favourite way to report bugs: point, talk, and hand it to Claude or Rovo. No more walls of text. Excited to see it live!
So so proud of the whole team for this launch! Record for agent and the whole Loom mac v2 experience feels truly magical. I'm using record for agent to: vibe code complex changes, write spec docs, create prototypes, draft slides decks and so much more.
