Layerpaint is a browser painter for 3D prints. Load an STL, OBJ or 3MF, color it by clicking, and export a multicolor 3MF that prints straight from Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer. No hand-painting, no software to install — just color it and print.
One month in — everything we've shipped since our June 5 launch
Hey everyone — we launched Layerpaint here on June 5th (a browser tool that colors a 3D model so it prints in full color, no hand-painting after). A month on, here's what's landed. Most of it came straight from what people got stuck on, so genuinely, thank you.
AI Paint is the big new one. Drop in a model, then either hand it a reference photo or just describe the colors you want ("weathered bronze, teal accents"). It paints the whole thing to match and hands the colors back editable, so you can adjust any part and export for full-color printing. Your first 2 are free.
The rest, roughly in order:
Painting
- Guard plane: drop a flat sheet through the model and fills stop dead at a clean straight edge.
- Match thickness: grabs every part the same thickness in one click — straps, trim, cabling.
- Don't cover other colors: a fill flows up to paint you've already laid instead of wiping it out.
- Paint a single triangle, or cap how far a stroke spreads, so nothing bleeds through a thin wall.
- Color swap: every face of one color to another in one move.
Before you print
- Clean speckles: finds stray specks and patches too thin to print, and fixes them.
- Auto-repair: holes and broken edges get patched the moment you import a model.
- Cut: slice the view so you can paint inside mouths, under arms, behind shields.
Colors & free tools
- 600+ real filament colors by brand, now with skin tones, plus one-click theme palettes.
- An STL viewer that reads the colors out of a 3MF, 3MF/STL/OBJ converters, and a filament color matcher — all in the browser, nothing uploaded.
