Hey Product Hunt!
I'm Ludo, a solo dev. I built Laurus out of a passion for history, geography, and daily deduction games.
How it works:
1. Decode the clue: each one describes a real historical event without ever naming it.
2. Pin the map: drop a pin as close as you can to where it happened. The closer you are, the more points you get.
3. Order the past: once all 5 events are located, put them back in chronological order.
4. Learn something: every answer comes with a short historical explanation.
A new set of 5 clues every day, from easy to hard. It's free, there's no account to create and nothing to download: play on your phone or your computer, in a few minutes a day. On mobile, you can add it to your home screen like an app and turn on a daily reminder so you don't miss a puzzle. The archive of past puzzles is free too, and the game is available in English and French.
About how it's made: picking the events was the hard part. The most viewed Wikipedia pages are mostly celebrities, so I pull candidates from Wikidata and filter for historical significance rather than popularity. The clues are drafted with an LLM, fact-checked against Wikipedia, and then a second model tries to solve them blind so I can calibrate the difficulty.
One question I'd really like your take on: do the hard clues feel fair, or just obscure?
