A fast, browser-based sudoku site that just lets you play. Free with no ads, no freemium, no popups. Full keyboard control with vim bindings, undo/redo, notes, hints. Daily puzzle with a leaderboard that ranks pure runs separately from runs with hints.
Hey Product Hunt ā Raz here, maker of Kodiak Sudoku.
I play sudoku most mornings and got worn down by every app being a tax on my attention: ads between puzzles, "watch this video to undo," modal popups, paywalled hints. So I spent the last few weeks building the version I actually wanted.
A few choices that may be interesting:
š¹ Keyboard-first. Arrow keys, vim-style hjkl, undo/redo, notes, hints ā every action has a shortcut. You can solve a whole puzzle without touching the mouse.
š Daily puzzle with an honest leaderboard. One shared puzzle a day. The leaderboard separates pure runs (no hints) from runs with help ā most apps lump them together, which makes the top of the board meaningless. This was the bug I most wanted to fix.
š Genuinely free. No ads, no freemium, no tracking beyond basic analytics. There's no monetization at all right now. I'll be upfront if that ever changes.
ā” Quick play for short sessions, challenge links to send a friend the same puzzle, streaks if you sign in, anonymous play if you don't.
Stack: Next.js 15 / React 19 / TypeScript / Supabase + Drizzle / Tailwind / Vercel. Custom solver in TypeScript for difficulty grading.
Roadmap: speed notes, replay mode, killer/thermo/arrow variants, 6Ć6 mini for coffee-break solves.
Would love honest feedback ā what's confusing, what's missing, what would make you come back tomorrow? And if you spot a bug, even better.
