I'm Darek, a designer who loves color-coded highlights on my Kobo.
I wanted my highlights in Apple Notes with colors preserved. Asked Claude for help, and we built a Python script that works but I didn't want to run prompts every time, so with some thinking I turned it into Kocono (Kobo Colour Notes), web based tool.
How it works:
Preserves your 4-color coding system
Privacy-first - all processing in your browser
No account, no subscription
Upload SQLite → Download AppleScript → Run in Script Editor → Import to Notes
The workflow:
1. Connect your Kobo to Mac
2. Upload KoboReader.sqlite to kocono.com
3. Preview your books & color-coded highlights
4. Download the AppleScript file
5. Run it in Script Editor (macOS)
6. Your highlights appear in Apple Notes with colors!
Built this for myself, but excited to share with fellow readers who color-code their thinking and want their highlights organized in Apple Notes!
