Kimd is an app created especially for concerts. It allows you to take photos and videos without being that annoying person with the “bigger than bigger“ iPhone 6 Plus glowing like crazy in everyone’s face. It’s free, super dark, gluten-free* and has no flash.
@syswarren you mentioned it's getting more serious (have you changed your Facebook status yet?). What do you have planned for Kimd? It's simple and solves a very specific use case but do you see it expanding to something much bigger?

@rrhoover Actually, I did change my FB (job) status earlier today!
Right now we're talking with concert halls and labels about how we can change things. We're also working on a service for people working in the music industry.

Thanks @thomhuxtable for posting Kimd.
Here is a few words about the project
We're a team of 4 friends working on it during weekends.
It was just for fun and things are getting a little bit more serious recently. (Feeling like I'm talking about a relationship here)
For people wondering how it works, here is a little illustration: :) (no goat this time, sorry @rrhoover)
Basically, we change your brightness settings and because it's not enough we add a special layer over the camera. It doesn't alter the quality of pictures/videos :)
For me, the phone and arms blocking my view would still pretty big contributors to "disturbing the crowd" :)
Very curious to see if this app makes things better (reducing avg screen brightness), makes things worse (even more people blocking the view for photos), or has no effect (if the people who care are already being conscientious, and the people who don't care don't download)

@staringispolite Well, to be totally honest, we worked on this app because we were annoyed by people putting their phones in our faces. We don't try to promote this behavior in concerts but if people are using their phones, we would prefer that they to do it with respect for people around them.
If we find a solution for taller people, arms and big hats, I hope we'll get a Nobel Prize ;)
@syswarren Haha yes exactly :) Maybe for your V2: Some sort of disrupter field so cameras don't work in the venue, and transparent hats

I picked up a Pressy button for my android phone for this type of use case. They don't have an iPhone version yet though (which alienates a lot of users). You can take a pick by just pressing the button with a preset pattern (like 2 clicks) or start taking video with 3 clicks, etc...

There could be other sneaky use cases too, theatre, cinema etc etc etc...

@thomhuxtable About theaters we believe that people should respect the etiquette. We created Kimd in order to make concert halls a better place but I'm sure people will find other ways to use it :)
