Review Kilo Code?
Reviewers largely praise Kilo Code for combining strong day-to-day usability with unusually deep control. They repeatedly highlight Orchestrator and other task modes, model switching, transparent token visibility, diff and checkpoint tools, and smooth VS Code and JetBrains workflows. Many say it reduces rework, handles larger or more complex projects well, and fits both beginners and experienced developers. Founders of Construct Computer and KiloClaw also emphasize trust, subtask orchestration, and flexible model routing. Main complaints are sparse: rough Linux sign-in, some UI quirks, weaker onboarding, and requests for more advanced features.

It stands out for its clear handling of agent roles that collaborate effectively, especially Orchestrator mode, which breaks complex tasks into subtasks and assigns them to specialists like Architect (for planning) and Coder (for implementation).

Pro:
1. notification is convenient
2. GLM-4.5 has a cheap subscription as LLM provider for Kilo Code. works well in most case.
3. architecture -> code mode make sense
Con:
1. sometimes stuck in loops. Not sure LLM or prompt's problem.

Tried Kilocode AI for a short time, so far pretty smooth to use, quick setup, and it helps speed up coding. Great for small tasks. I’d like to give it another check to see if it can actually help fix bugs in a serious project.

This product is amazing—it lets me use any LLM, local or remote, without restrictions or complaints. I've tried other agentic development software before, but they were all tied to a provider and came with limitations. I'm sticking with Kilo Code.
Having come from Cursor then Cline, I appreciate this tool more!
I like how it is open source, transparent about the pricing, allows me to switch between models, and generous with credits!
Very happy with KiloCode. I can switch models to take advantage of advanced planning and architecture where needed while mixing in cheaper coding specific models where possible

I’ve been using this tool in VS Code and Android Studio. It’s very helpful for my projects, and I really like the usage graph, it makes the experience enjoyable.
We ship every day, so the coding agent had to be one we could actually trust with a large change. Kilo Code's orchestrator mode splits it into subtasks instead of one long context that drifts by the end, it runs whatever model you point it at with no markup on the tokens, and it's open source, so nothing about how it works is a mystery to us.
