Hi Product Hunt, As a fan of home theater systems, I noticed that there wasn’t many websites that aggregate the vast space into a format that is understandable and useable by anyone from a beginner to an audiophile which is why I built this website. hometheaterbuilds.com works like PCPartPicker, for home theater: pick a receiver, speakers, subwoofer, TV or projector, and it tells you in plain English whether the combination has problems, such as an amp that can’t drive the speakers’ impedance, a layout the receiver can’t actually process , HDMI bandwidth that can’t feed the display, the wrong screen for a UST projector, and much more. The part of the website I’m most proud of is its honesty. Every spec on the site carries a source you can click. When a manufacturer doesn’t publish a number, the site says unknown so it never guesses, including prices. Every build shows its work, and the ones that couldn’t run tell you exactly which spec the maker didn’t publish. Nothing is sponsored, because a verdict can’t be bought. I also published a report on how inconsistent manufacturer spec sheets really are, one of my favorite pages on the site. No account is needed because every build is a shareable URL. It’s still early, so catalog depth is the honest gap. Popular gear is covered, the long tail isn’t yet (tell me what’s missing and it jumps the queue). If a compatibility verdict strikes you as wrong, that’s the feedback I want most, as every verdict traces to specific sourced fields, so I can tell you whether it’s my data or my logic. honestly this looks super useful, would love to see a room size and seating distance input so it can flag if the speakers or display are too big or too small for the space.
