Cool stuff.
A couple questions:
1) How do you determine "the contact" if there are multiple available for an app?
2) Do you have this data available for apps that are already on the market? or are you just making it accessible for new apps on a monthly basis?
Thanks!
@mikeyrenan hi Mikey! We use a mix of computer and humans to check through the data. At the moment we return the contact(s) we find that are the best available and are fine tuning the data over time.
Such a great idea. I wonder on the efficacy of it. Are you actually converting paying customers from this list? I would think these early apps can't actually pay for anything, and as such the list wouldn't be worth it immediately. If you are seeing success seeling, at what price points are you converting customers? Is it mostly $10/month type customers or are you able to convert 5-figure annual customers?
@angilly Thanks for the question Ryan!
We've actually seen great conversions for @LinkTexting at $9/$29 a month so far for smaller apps. For the larger companies it will give you the window that they're now open to being sold to since they just launched their app and while not as fast it's a start :)
You also get the value of being in the mindshare of these companies early and when they do hit the right size they'll know about your company for those 5 figure deals!
@angilly Yes! I wish we could share customer stories easier, but the SDK marketplace is extremely competitive.
There's a huge market of freemium/premium technologies for mobile app developers and they have a very big problem on their hands of finding the contact information.
The sheer size of the iOS app market place warrants covering as many of the apps or even specific categories.
Hey all! One of the founders here
My co-founder @datarade and I built @LinkTexting but we were struggling to find more than 20 apps a day to sell to even though 3,000 are released a day.
We built this tool find those 3,000 apps and the emails and twitter handles of as many as possible allowing us to reach thousands of customers a day.
We are now opening up that tool to other companies!
If you work on a product where a mobile app is the customer our tool is a must!
Awesome. One thing we noticed when we tried reaching out to apps is a pretty big bounce rate. Do you have a bounce rate of your list/accuracy of your list?
@mada299 hi Mada! Yes he have a specific way of reaching out that we've seen great conversions from and happy to share that with our customers. While we don't have an exact bounce rate we can get conversions and the accuracy is very high!
We get a lot of spam (Especially on Android) for marketing services, annoying tools and review boosters so the idea of this product doesn't excite me. Saying that if you're actually adding value and can rise above the noise then this is very useful.
@brackin We are firm believers in that! One of the things we want to coach our customers on is how to come off as valuable and not spammy. We've done that with @LinkTexting + @GrowAmp and seen an amazing response from developers!
@brackin Now, our bar for providing the developers with true value is really high. We often advise our clients to create extremely sticky content that's useful tactical specific advice that is something app developers can follow. When companies talk about their successes and mistakes in blog posts it tends to be successful because that's content that iOS devs love.
I estimate that every day there are 15,000 web and mobile apps that launch. Software abstraction is real and reaching the right customers is a real problem in a sea of developers.
Do you target the long tail?
Do you work hard to go after the hard to reach companies?
How do you go bottom up? How do you go top-down?
These are all very real issues for mobile SDK and analytics companies. Especially any provider trying to help mobile developers. Reaching the right enthusiastic indie developer can be a huge win for a business.
At LinkTexting, we found that our top 20% of customers referred the other 80%. Pretty incredible/powerful.
