freshers.dev is a satirical daily career roguelike for developers. Sign in with GitHub, survive recruiters, layoffs, hype and burnout, then compare your ending on daily and all-time leaderboards. Play on the web or directly inside VS Code.

this looks super fun honestly, the vs code integration is a nice touch. one thing though, could you add some kind of team mode where a small group of friends can go through the same daily run together and compare how each person survived? would make it way more shareable and honestly way more brutal when your coworker outlives you.

@bulemglezgjgz That is a great idea. The daily run already gives everyone the same starting conditions, so a small team mode with a shared link, private leaderboard would fit really well.
Comparing who got promoted, burned out, got laid off, or somehow survived the longest would definitely make it more fun and shareable. Adding this to the roadmap thank you!
One of the most interesting concepts I have come across. We usually get the same generic career advice, but this game makes you think through the important career decisions you’ll eventually face. Loved this game. 🙌
One tip: low-key, focus on equity and skills (both in the game and in the real game 😄 🙌)
CC rocks 🚀

@dheeraj_purohit Thank you so much! That genuinely means a lot. The whole idea was to move beyond generic career advice and let people experience the trade-offs instead of just reading about them. I'm really glad that came across.
And I completely agree with your tip, equity and skills compound over time, both in the game and in real life.

Could you explain this more a bit, i like the problem of career advice being too serious or too generic. Would love to know what does your product exactly does. thank you!

@kisekiya Thank you! Freshers.dev is a free browser-based career game where your GitHub profile becomes a fictional software engineer. You make decisions around jobs, skills, salary, equity, burnout, layoffs, office politics, and career growth.
Each choice changes how your career plays out, and at the end, you get a personalised career story and outcome.
The idea is not to give users another list of "10 career tips," but to let them experience the trade-offs behind those decisions in a fun way. It is partly a game, partly a career simulation, and currently an early experiment.
I would love to hear your feedback if you try it.
the vs code version is a fun touch, fired it up between deploys and the recruiter spam actually got a chuckle out of me

@nurten37784 Haha, glad the recruiter spam landed! The VS Code version was built exactly for those little gaps between deploys. Thanks for giving it a try!
