My process was simple: I listed every pain point I had as a freelancer and turned each one into a feature. Time tracking because I kept forgetting to log hours. Invoice reminders because clients ghost you. A client portal because sending files over WhatsApp is embarrassing. I built the entire thing with Base44 as a solo founder, which let me ship fast without getting lost in backend infrastructure. What started as a personal tool evolved into a full SaaS with subscriptions, PDF export, expense tracking and profit analytics. The biggest lesson? Build for yourself first. If you're your own user, you never run out of things to improve.
