After years of over-engineering my spreadsheet I decided to turn it into an app. I personally don't do expense tracking,I tried, too much work and commitment. I do the opposite, track my monthly balances of all my bank accounts and investments to find out how much I spend, save, investments performance etc... I believe it's more effective as it just takes 10 minutes a month (actually less now!). I'm sure others have different needs and curious to discover them. Hi Alex, Very interesting product! As someone who’s seen how over-engineering can sometimes hinder usability, I’d love to know—what was the most critical feature or process you stripped away to make finance_stuff more effective? How do you balance simplicity with the need for in-depth financial insights?

@sr24 thanks Sam! I am a data nerd so I would love as many graphs and columns as possible. I used Numbers instead of google sheet (IMHO better!) and organised the sheet into multiple tabs and tables. But it became hard to manage, add things, remove and especially sometimes confusing when filling it in each month, I would forget to fill out some columns of the many tables and then the result would be messed up. Turning it an app allows me to control the UX better. e.g. right now it has glowing red cells when you miss some data, I will probably have an own view that guides you to a fill an entry. You can easily add new accounts or investments without having to reorganise some tables. Other than that it opens to many more possibilities, AI assistant is just an example but the upcoming automatic expense tracking would be impossible or very cumbersome with spreadsheets! I believe with an app I won't have to cut down on in-depth financial insights, it's just a matter of finding a good UX for it!
