We built FigPad because creating scientific figures is still far more painful than it should be. Researchers often have the idea in mind, but turning that idea into a clean, editable, publication-ready figure takes too much time and too many tools. Most AI image tools are great at making beautiful pictures, but they are not designed for scientific diagrams, mechanisms, or structured visuals that need to be refined and reused. We wanted to build something specifically for researchers: a workflow where you can go from text, sketch, or reference image to an editable scientific figure, then keep improving it instead of starting over. While building FigPad, we kept hearing the same thing from users: “I don’t just want generation — I want control.” That shaped our product into a combination of creation, refinement, vector editing, and export. We’re launching FigPad to make scientific visualization faster, more flexible, and less frustrating.
