Hey @gdeglin! Can you talk about how you managed to build it in less than 24hrs (tools you used, but also the logistical and prior-experience side of it)? What would someone need to know & use to release a game of their own in 24 hours?
@staringispolite It was 24 hours spread across just over 2 days. Two of my coworkers (a designer and a dev) built an early prototype for fun on a Thursday night. Worked on it a bit further on Friday. Then I jumped in and helped them finish it all up and submit it to all the stores on Saturday night.
The game was built in Unity and uses the 2D Toolkit, NGUI, and Smoothmoves plugins. All of which we have a lot of experience with from working on our past and current games, so we were able to jump right in. We also implemented PlayHaven ads, Kamcord video sharing (for iOS only), Google Analytics, GameCenter, Google Play Game Services, and Amazon GameCircle.
All of the artwork was done by @vostalgic. Along with the great character animation, background illustration, and UI design, a significant portion of his time went into just designing all the necessary icons, promo graphics, and screenshots for every single store.
It was a quite a sprint putting this all together for sure, but we had a great time building it.
@staringispolite For anyone else looking to build a similar game in 24 hours, it's practice and familiarity with all the necessary tools goes a long way in making it possible. And of course it helps to be able to work with a great designer & artist.
